Childhood and education
Margarita Sergeevna Gerasimovich was born in 1990 in the capital of Belarus - Minsk. She was born into a rather poor and incomplete family: there was no father in her life, his role was played by her mother's grandfather. He received a pension, and the girl's mother received a tiny salary for a teacher at school. Rita recalled more than once that the purchase of each new thing in her family was a real event. Nevertheless, she was surrounded by real care, so she recalls her childhood years exclusively with warmth.
The girl's mother in the first years of the child's life began to notice her musical talent and amazing ear. Rita Gerasimovich studied modern songs, and then performed them for her relatives. Despite the difficult financial situation, the mother and grandfather decided to send their young talent to a music school, where she began to study piano and vocals. She has traveled to many European countries with her musical choir.
Already at the age of 11, Margarita wrote her first song, and in high school she founded her own rock group. The very young age of the performers did not allow them to break through and become famous. After graduating from the music school, Gerasimovich entered the vocal studio, which she graduated with honors. It was during her student years that the young performer took the pseudonym "Dakota".
Participation in TV projects
The first experience of participating in a talent show was unsuccessful. At the age of 15, the singer performed in the Belarusian program "Star Stagecoach" with an English song, which is why she was accused of lack of patriotic feelings for her native country and was kicked out of the project. Two years later, the performer flew to Moscow to test herself again.
Dakota's new project is the 7th season of the Star Factory show. She did not win this competition either, but the love of the audience was obvious: during the project, Rita's song was downloaded the most times. Nevertheless, this period became very difficult for her. Her grandfather died, and during the program itself she had to listen to a lot of harsh criticism. In addition, she simply did not have enough money for musical instruments. After the competition, she temporarily decided to quit performing songs and write them for others. Among her customers were such stars as Yolka and Loboda.
The singer did not dare to start a solo career for a long time, but her husband, the Russian performer Vlad Sokolovsky, helped her in this. He supported her in the decision to perform in the project "Main Stage", and then became the sound producer of her track "Half a Man", released in 2016. Since this year, the singer has been actively pursuing her musical career, regularly performing songs of her own authorship.
Personal life
On her first Russian project, Rita Dakota met a former member of the BiS group - Vlad Sokolovsky. For 7 years, young people were friends, but in 2014 they began a romantic relationship. A year later, the couple entered into legal marriage. At the end of 2017, the singer gave birth to a daughter, who was named Mia.
The couple have their own family channel on the YouTube video platform, where they have filmed blogs about their family life. Their tandem has become the object of admiration of many millions of fans. But, unfortunately, in mid-August 2018, Rita Dakota shocked her Instagram audience with sad news: the spouses' relationship ends in divorce, lasting only 3 years.
