A rosary is a traditional prayer item used in many religions around the world. It is used to count the prayers read and remaining. Making a rosary is a responsible business, but anyone can try to make this interesting thing with their own hands.
It is necessary
nylon cord
Instructions
Step 1
Decide how many knots you want to make your rosary. Modern Orthodox rosary beads have 100 knots, which are divided into groups of 10 or 25 (that is, into quarters) with the help of special, especially large knots. Usually the praying person, having reached such a dividing knot, reads the Theotokos Prayer or Our Father.
Step 2
Pick up the material. You can use cotton or woolen yarn as a cord for weaving a rosary, but it is not very easy to work with it. You can also take a nylon cord or even a few narrow satin ribbons.
Step 3
Start tying knots. If you look at the rosary, which is sold in monasteries, Orthodox icon shops or in churches, you will see that the weaving there is very complicated, which requires a long study. But if you are making a rosary for yourself, then it is not at all necessary to knit complex knots. You can also pray with the help of the most ordinary knots.
Step 4
Start tying knots of Orthodox rosary from the extreme, from the right left knot. Gradually moving to the right, make every tenth knot larger - these will be the so-called "tens". Make every 25 knot triple - extra large to separate the “quarters” on the rosary.
Step 5
When finished weaving, close the circle with a large knot, so that both tails hang down after the closing knot.
Step 6
On the remaining hanging tails, make 3 more knots and tie to the rosary a regular Orthodox cross, bought in advance in any church. Your rosary is ready.
