Childhood and youth

Christopher Nolan was born in London on July 30, 1970. His mother was American and worked as a flight attendant, his father was in the advertising business. Christopher and his brother Jonothan had two citizenships, often moving from England to America and back. Subsequently, Jonothan became a co-author of all the older brother's films.

Christopher dreamed of becoming a director in early childhood when he watched Star Wars and A Space Odyssey. The film masterpieces of Lucas and Kubrick made an indelible impression on the boy, and since then he has firmly decided that he will make films when he grows up. By the age of eight, he had several short films filmed with his father's video camera. Over time, children's fun grew into a real passion. After graduating from high school, Christopher entered the Faculty of English Literature, and in his free time he continued to hone his directing skills. His talent was soon noticed and some of his shorts were shown at festivals.

Creative career

Christopher Nolan made his first film, the crime thriller Chase, in 1988 for only $ 6,000. As a result, the film earned over 40 thousand for its creator - not a bad figure for an 18-year-old debutant. Nolan's next film, Remember, starring Guy Pearce, was released only twelve years later, in 2000, but it was for this work that the director received several prestigious awards. Nolan got noticed in Hollywood, provided him with funds, and in 2002 Nolan released the thriller "Insomnia" starring Al Pacino. The tape earned $ 110 million at the box office, and from that moment on, each new Nolan film inevitably became a universally recognized masterpiece - "Batman Begins", "The Prestige", "The Dark Knight" (the film made the effect of an exploding bomb and earned more than a billion dollars at the box office). Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstaller, Dunkirk.

In 2010, Nolan received the British Excellence Award for Stage Director. Fans are sure that the future works of the master will be no worse, and maybe even better.

Personal life

Fortunately for Nolan, his love life is unlikely to be of interest to the tabloids. The director's only love was and remains Emma Thomas, whom he met in his student years. Emma supports her husband in everything, providing him with a reliable rear, and even produces his films, so the spouses spend almost all their time together, both at home and at work.

Christopher and Emma have four children - Oliver, Magnus, Rory and Flora.
