Biography
The future famous designer was born in the small town of Nerpelt, located in the Belgian province of Limburg. This joyful event took place in a modest family of a restaurant cleaner and a military man on January 12, 1968. The child was named Raf and they tried to give him the most versatile education.
By the age of fifteen, Raf had taken a serious interest in art and in the 80s completed industrial design courses, having learned, in his words, "to advertise diamonds and chocolate." But this talented guy was not enough, and he went to get education at the Higher School of Design in the city of Genk and received a diploma in furniture designer.
Career
But at that time, the youth of Belgium was much more interested in clothing fashion, and besides, Linda Loppa, head of the Royal Academy of Antwerp, drew attention to the work of the young artist and advised Simons to create his own brand, and in 1995 he did it, and already in 1997 presented his collection on the catwalks of Paris.
Simons has always been inspired by music, and his shows were accompanied by magnificent modern hits, and Raf's fashion show of the autumn-winter collection of 1998 was a real gift for music lovers - the guys from the German team Kraftwerk appeared on the catwalk as models. In short, the international fame of the Raf Simons brand grew rapidly, and the fashion designer was recognized as a master of perfect tailoring and a true visionary - his fashion models were always ahead of their time.
In 2000, Raf closed his business and began teaching design at the University of Vienna. This period of his life lasted 5 years. In 2005, Simons Rough became the creative director of the Prada division of the Jil Sander brand, producing stylish accessories, and in 2008 he began to collaborate with the famous sportswear brand Fred Perry, the "icon of British style". founded by tennis player from England Fred Perry. In the spring of 2012, Raf Simons' career took off again. Christian Dior invited him to the position of creative director of the fashion lines. And in 2015, Raf left this post due to difficulties in his personal life. But literally a year later, the designer took the post of creative director of the no less famous large company Calvin Klein and has been working there to this day.
