Historical science is most influenced by changes in policy. Attempts to rewrite history textbooks never stopped. Nikolai Fomenko is one of those scientists who insist on a radical revision of historical data covering huge layers of the past. He proposed a new chronology of events in world history.

Career as a mathematician

In 1967, Fomenko graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. He studied with professors V. V. Rumyantsev and P. K. Rashevsky. Since the late 60s, Anatoly Timofeevich worked at the Department of Differential Geometry of his native faculty. In 1970 he defended his Ph. D. thesis. Riemannian homogeneous spaces became the topic of his scientific interests.

Since December 1981, Fomenko became a professor at Moscow State University. He worked at the Department of Higher Geometry and Topology. Ten years later, the scientist headed the Department of Differential Geometry of the "Mechanics and Mathematics" of Moscow State University.

"New chronology" by Anatoly Fomenko

Created and developed by Anatoly Fomenko, the "New Chronology" project claims to create completely new and unique methods of researching historical documents and dating events in world history. The scandalous nature of the project quickly made it famous among fans of popular history literature.

The project participants criticized the generally accepted chronology and assessed negatively the conscientiousness of the work of a number of scientists - archaeologists, historians, astronomers, linguists.

Within the framework of this project, several dozen books have been published in Russian and several European languages, which deal with the “correct” filling of history and its “truly scientific” reconstruction.

The traditional scientific communities strongly disagree with the new scientific paradigm. World-renowned scholars have repeatedly pointed out that this concept of historical chronology is a reflection of the wave of amateurism and unprofessionalism that swept through society and the scientific world, as well as the education system. Scientists compare Fomenko's research with Copperfield's tricks, a serious mathematician's mockery of simple-minded humanitarians.
