People's Artist of Russia since 2000 and people's idol - Ivan Sergeevich Bortnik - for many years was the leading artist of the Taganka Theater. And he received universal recognition throughout the post-Soviet territory after a minor role in the title series directed by Stanislav Govorukhin "The meeting place cannot be changed."

A native of Moscow and a native of an intelligent family (father is an editor, and mother is a doctor of philological sciences) - Ivan Bortnik - since 2017, he has moved away from active participation in the life of theater and cinema. And since he was once connected with Vladimir Vysotsky by a strong friendship, he often gives interviews to the creators of a series of documentaries about this famous person who died untimely.

Biography and career of Ivan Sergeevich Bortnik

On April 16, 1939, the future popular theater and film actor was born. Vanya's childhood passed in a difficult time, when the country was full of hooliganism and crime. There was also an episode in his yard life when he stood "on the naughty" during the robbery of a stall. Surprisingly, for all his waywardness and street life, the teenager managed to study well, read a lot, write poetry, engage in amateur performances and attend a music school in the cello class.

In 1957, Bortnik entered GITIS, but, having changed his mind, transferred to the Shchukin Theater School for a course with Vladimir Etush. After graduating from the university, the aspiring actor was assigned to the troupe of the Theater named after N. V. Gogol, but due to disagreements with the artistic director, he soon left for the Taganka Theater to Yuri Lyubimov, whom he had known since his student days.

An interesting fact is the case with the presentation of Innokenty Smoktunovsky to the new head of the theater - Anatoly Efros - Ivan Bortnik. It was the epithets of the master “unique” and “brilliant” that became, as impossible as possible, an accurate description of a talented actor.

In 1962 Ivan Sergeevich made his cinematic debut. The character of the artist Vasily in the film "Confessions" did not like the beginning artist himself, as his mental organization hated the role of a sufferer. Perhaps for this reason, only eight years later, he starred in the next film "Day Ahead" (1970). And real success as a film actor brought him a film work in the cult serial film "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed" (1979).

Currently, the People's Artist of the Russian Federation has many theatrical and cinematic projects under his belt. I would especially like to highlight the following films in his filmography: "Ivan da Marya" (1974), "Others' Letters" (1975), "Sergeant Major" (1978), "Kinsfolk" (1981), "I am the leader of the outpost" (1986), "Mirror for a Hero" (1987), "Death in the Cinema" (1990), "Murder on Zhdanovskaya" (1992), "Muslim" (1995), "Mama, Don't Cry!" (1998), Antikiller (2002), Sonya - Golden Hand (2007).

Personal life of the artist

The first marriage with actress Inna Gulaya did not bring children and calm family happiness to Ivan Bortnik. Due to the lack of demand in the profession, the spouse reacted very passionately to all the events in their life together, which led to a break in relations, and subsequently to suicide.

The second family union, registered with Tatiana, who works as a teacher at a theater and art school, has become strong and unique. Despite the many life problems that the couple successfully overcome together, they still look happy today. In 1969, the couple had a son, Fedor. He decided not to continue the acting dynasty, but realized himself as a lighting designer.
