The word "vacuum" in translation from the Latin language means empty. This is the name for space free from matter. An ideological vacuum is understood as the absence of a dominant (single) ideology in the state and society.
Norms and images
Ideology is a logical system of ideals and values that allows a person to develop a certain understanding of reality.
Values are a kind of norms by which people distinguish between actions, events, concepts. Values have positive or negative meanings for them. For example, good and evil, beautiful and ugly, freedom and slavery.
Ideals reflect fictional images of the future. They correspond to the dreams and expectations of representatives of certain sectors of society. Striving for ideals turns into a movement towards an alluring, inspiring goal.
Each has its own
Ideology represents the interests of individual social groups. Justifies the public order they want to establish. And criticizes what these groups don't like.
Political parties become the bearers of ideology. They, competing with each other, come to power. And they establish their own ideologies in society.
Starring
The state strives for constancy and stability, which are achieved through political and social consolidation. The main role in this process is assigned to ideology.
However, in a truly free, democratic state, like-mindedness is not forcibly implanted. After all, society includes a large number of social groups. And they all have the right to have their interests taken into account and realized.
But the presence of many different parties, trends, movements does not contribute to the unification of the nation. It loses political, social and moral guidelines that are clear and attractive to most citizens. Separate social groups cannot identify common goals and ways to achieve them.
When there is no ideology in society and the state that is accepted and supported by the majority (people), it is in an ideological vacuum.
One for all
National ideology serves as a guarantor of social unity. It reflects people's ideas about themselves, about the state in which they live. Its role and place in the world community.
The national idea is primarily based on patriotism. This is her core. It makes citizens believe in their own strength, fills them with creative energy. Patriotism unites representatives of various social groups.
In a democratic state governed by the rule of law, the national idea is a self-developing system. It strengthens itself in political disputes and discussions, in the struggle against other ideologies.
