The film adaptation of the short story by the Abkhazian prose writer Fazil Iskander was named by the creators of the feature film "Let's Part - While Good". From the first frames and minutes of viewing, the viewer understands that this phrase is far from lyrical and romantic.
The two-part art drama "Let's Part - Until the Good" was filmed at the Mosfilm studio in 1991 by the famous Belarusian director Vladimir Motyl. The DVD was released by Azimut in 2014.
The film, based on the works of the classic of Soviet prose Fazil Iskander, tells the story of the difficult fate of the simple-minded and respectable Caucasian peasant Bagrat, who is forced to hide from his enemies and eventually becomes an abrek. To the people whom Bagrat Kiapsh encounters during the persecutions, he says: "Let us part - while the good ones", "Let us part, until none of you betrayed me." He understands that the peasants who hid him, wounded from the pursuers, may be seduced by the announced reward and hand him over to the Cossacks. After all, they are constantly in need and deprivation. Life dictates its own rules, and sometimes, in desperate situations, even good people have to act not very noble. That is why one of the catchphrases of Fazil Iskander can be traced in the context of the script: “Animals do not betray anyone at all. Only people betray”.
The film contains everything that is found in everyday life: love and hate, meanness and courage, betrayal and self-sacrifice. At any time, it is possible to understand how decent a person is, not only by the actions that he performs in relation to others. Much depends on how honest people are with themselves, whether they manage to live as their conscience dictates, and not as the circumstances dictate.

Working on the main role for Georgy Darchiashvili is the case when the viewer completely identifies the actor with the character whose image he embodies. There is practically no information about his personal life and family, except that he is divorced from his wife Liana.

As for cinema, in the Soviet period, in addition to Mosfilm, Darchiashvili starred at the Georgia-Film studio in films by famous directors (Giga Lortkipanidze, Merab Tavadze). Took part in the filming of the film "The Return of the Baghdad Thief" at the Raji Kapoor Film Studio. The popularity of the Georgian actor was added by the role of Prince Altaf in the joint Soviet-Indian work "Black Prince Adjuba" (1989-1991). The undoubted artistic merit of the picture is the original pictures of the daily life of the highlanders and the bewitching beauty of the Abkhaz nature (cameraman Vladimir Ilyin, artist Viktor Yushin, costume designer Irina Motyl, daughter of director V. Motyl).
The melodies of Gennady Gladkov, a composer recognized in the national cinema as one of the best among the creators of music for films, sound behind the scenes. In addition to the famous comedy films ("Formula of Love", "Gentlemen of Fortune", "12 Chairs") and philosophical tales ("Kill the Dragon", "An Ordinary Miracle"), his music sounds in such films as "Before the first blood", " You - me, I - you "," There is no turning back."
The author of a piercing and heartbreaking song about the aspirations of the Caucasian people is the famous poet and bard Julius Kim. His poem entitled "Three Songs" is a triptych, which, in addition to the song "Sad", which sounded in the second episode of the film, includes two more: "Drinking" and "Merry". The text of one of them is built in the form of a dialogue:
- Why are you singing so loudly, ringing nightingale, and who are you teasing with your song? It's bad weather, grief and war - is it up to your songs in our times?
- It's up to you to fight in the field. It is your lot - grief to grieve. Move away, don't listen to my song. The time has come for me - so I sing! And I sing songs loudly and cheerfully, not sparing my heart, how much there is! Move away, don't listen - or sing with me! I have no other spring for songs.
Screenplay and direction of the film
Despite the fact that eminent actors were not involved in the filming, the film received a worthy place among the works of the famous Soviet and Russian film director Vladimir Motyl. By that time, his creative baggage already included such films as Zhenya, Zhenya and Katyusha, White Sun of the Desert, Star of Captivating Happiness, Forest, and I Have the Honor. In many respects, the success of the film was facilitated by the fact that the director turned to the classics of Soviet prose.
The script is based on the plot of the novel by Fazil Iskander from the book "Sandro from Chegem" (Chapter 25). In the works of a “nobleman from the Chegem court” (as Iskander is often called in literary circles), he is the soul of Abkhazia. Old Khasan's Tune is a story of a Chegem shepherd who stepped onto the movie screen from the pages of an artistic and historical literary epic. And the epigraph to the film is the well-known dictum of the prose writer: "A soul that has committed treason perceives any surprise as the beginning of retribution."
