On September 6, 2012, GQ UK hosted the Person of the Year awards ceremony. The singer Lana del Rey became the winner in the category "Woman of the Year". According to the editors of the magazine, Lana was chosen for a sharp rise in her musical career: this year the girl released a new album, which took the leading place in the UK charts, and also entered into a number of important advertising contracts.

The real name of this performer is Elizabeth Grant. She was born on June 21, 1986 in the suburbs of New York. Since childhood, the girl sang in the church choir and dreamed of a career as a star. Because of bad behavior, Elizabeth was expelled from school at the age of fifteen, and then her father, businessman Robert Grant, who specializes in working with domains on the Internet, took up raising his daughter.

In 2004, the future star moved to New York and, in order to earn a piece of bread, began performing in restaurants and clubs. Four years later, Elizabeth was able to prepare a mini-album, consisting of three of her own songs, and released it under the creative pseudonym Lana Del Ray. The girl, with the help of her friends, began to distribute the mini-album through labels.

Soon she was lucky: the famous producer David Kane drew attention to her. The girl signed a contract and soon released her first full-length album, Lana Del Rey. The album was well received by the public. In the summer of 2011, Elizabeth's song Video games sounded on all radio stations in the United Kingdom, after which the girl literally woke up famous. Around the same time, a contract was signed with Stranger Records, which, however, later had to be broken. In January 2012, Lana del Rey released her second album, Born to Die, which is being promoted by Interscope Records.
