This spring, Robert Rodriguez began filming the sequel to the acclaimed film Machete. This picture, which was released on the screens of the country in 2010, grossed a large box office, despite the skeptical predictions of critics. And fans of this iconic director's talent are eagerly awaiting a sequel called Machete Kills.
Filming for one of the most anticipated films, Machete Kills, began in April 2012. And if the first film was shot by Robert Rodriguez together with director Antan Manikis, then he decided to make the sequel on his own.
The main role was still played by Danny Trejo, who played excellently in the first film of the former federal agent of Mexican origin, who is fighting drug lords. It is already known that the sequel will star Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Amber Heard and even Mel Gibson. What role the last actor will play is still unknown.
The scale of the second picture will be serious. This time, the hero of the sensational tape will have to carry out the secret mission of the United States government. Machete will have to stop the insane leader of the punitive squad and an eccentric billionaire who wants to start a war on the planet using space weapons. In this he will again be helped by his faithful companions in the person of Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez.
Machete Kills is expected to release in summer 2013. One of the film's producers is Alexander Rodnyansky and his company AR Films.
The first picture, released on wide screens in 2010, earned more than $ 44 million at the box office. But the initial budget was 20 million. Moreover, the film was especially popular on video media. Good sales prompted Rodriguez to shoot a sequel.
Originally Machete was a trailer for a defunct film directed by Rodriguez for the GrindHouse project. It was made as part of an operational movie from the 70s. Moreover, the script was then still written specifically for the actor Danny Trejo. According to Robert Rodriguez, he also plans to shoot a third film entitled Machete Kills Again … in Space!
