Arriving at a restaurant or cafe, having received first-class service and enjoyment from the eaten dinner, you often want to thank the waiter and leave him a small amount for tea. Many people are tormented by the question: exactly how much to give and how to do it correctly.
Abroad, tips are left to almost all service personnel: maids, waiters, petrol stations, etc. If the person did not leave for tea, it is considered an insult. Russians are not so generous with tips and mostly give them to waiters.
Tipping in Russia
In Russia, tips are considered an indicator of the quality of service and at the same time generosity. And with a tip you can show not only your gratitude, but also dissatisfaction. If the visitors of the restaurant do not like the service of the waiter, they can leave a handful of small change for tea.
The tip in Russia is usually 8-10% of the amount in the check, but sometimes it reaches 15%. In restaurants of a higher level, tips are left at will, in some simpler cafes they can immediately be included in the bill in the amount of 10% of the order amount.
Tipping in other countries
In the United States, the more expensive the establishment, the more tips are expected from visitors. A tip of 10% of the amount in the check is left in small eateries, in high-level restaurants it is customary to leave 20-25% of the order amount.
The largest tip in European countries is left in France. They are usually included in the invoice at once in the amount of 15-16% of the order. In addition, the visitor must put € 0, 5-1 on the round plate on which the bill was brought.
In Holland, Switzerland and Austria, tips are considered a waste, so 3-6% of the invoice amount will be enough.
Tipping is generally considered an insult in Japan and Australia. First class service is considered the responsibility of the staff. It doesn't matter what kind of institution it is: a cafe, a nightclub or a casino.
Most often abroad the tip amount is 5-10% of the order amount. This will be sufficient if you are flying to Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Egypt.
How to tip
A tip for the maid can be left in the room. Place them on the table, crush them down with an ashtray or glass, or on the bed.
On sightseeing buses, there is a special tip basket near the driver's seat.
To thank the waiter, you can say when paying the bill that no change is needed. Another option is after the change is brought in, count the tip and place it on a plate, thanking the staff.
It will not be superfluous to leave a tip at the beauty salon. By doing this, you will not only thank the master, but also guaranteed to get time in a tight schedule and good service next time.
