The Orthodox Church especially offers prayers for the repose of the dead. The Orthodox calendar allocates special days called parental Saturdays. One of the most important parenting days is Trinity Saturday.
Prayer for deceased loved ones is not exclusively a religious duty. First of all, it is the moral need of a loving human soul, the need of the heart. When a person is alive, many express their love and respect directly by deeds, helping and supporting in every way. After our neighbors pass into eternity, it is not possible to do anything purely material for them, except for organizing a funeral. In a spiritual sense, the prayer commemoration of the departed and the performance of deeds of mercy in memory of them come to the fore.

How to commemorate the dead on Trinity parental Saturday
In the mass consciousness of Russian people on Trinity Saturday, it is imperative to go to the cemetery. This practice is really relevant and necessary, because the ennobling of the burial places of our neighbors is a very important matter. However, one should not forget that prayer is the main thing in the remembrance of the departed. On Trinity parental Saturday, the divine liturgy is celebrated in Orthodox churches, during which the clergy together with parishioners pray for the dead. It is advisable to commemorate the deceased loved ones at the liturgy, having previously submitted notes of their repose. It is important for an Orthodox person to pray himself at this service. A trip to the cemetery may well be postponed for several hours, because the liturgy is not a lengthy service, and there is no hourly time frame that corrects the need to be present at the cemetery (the statement that burial places should be visited before 12 noon or until some other time is just superstition).
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a panikhida is served in the churches - a special funeral service at which the departed are again commemorated. It is possible to submit notes on the repose of relatives to this service.
How to commemorate the dead in a cemetery
For Orthodox believers on Trinity Parental Saturday, it is important to pray directly at the burial sites. It is quite possible to turn to God in prayer and in your own words about the forgiveness of the sins of those who have departed and the granting of the Kingdom of Heaven to them. In addition, you can clean the grave, improve the territory.
In Soviet times, the practice of arranging dinners at burial sites was widely used. In some cases, alcohol is used as a reminder. This practice cannot be acceptable to the believer. The dead are not commemorated with food, and the use of alcohol on the graves of our ancestors is blasphemy.
