Not being able to attend the funeral, the person may express their condolences in writing. It is important to choose the words of comfort very delicately so as not to hurt the grieving person further.
It is necessary
- - writing materials;
- - the envelope.
Instructions
Step 1
When expressing condolences in a letter, avoid standard faceless, clichéd expressions. At such a moment, any falsehood is double insulting, both for grieving relatives and for the memory of the deceased. If your speech is not characterized by pompous expressions and pathos, do not write them in your letter.
Step 2
Use storytelling to keep your writing from sounding dry and insensitive. This technique does not require loud epithets, vivid metaphors, but it looks very expressive due to the well-chosen development of actions. But keep in mind that it is always difficult for loved ones to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Therefore, make the subject of your speech not the harsh and gloomy present, but the bright and happy past, where the deceased is still alive. For example: "I remember the day when I met your older brother. He immediately seemed to me a sincere and open person. And all the next ten years of our friendship, I admired his kindness, mercy and decency."
Step 3
Next, describe an incident from your shared past. Relatives may not know this story. And they will be doubly pleased to hear new flattering reviews about the person they loved, love and will always love.
Step 4
If you know that one of the relatives cannot come to their senses after the funeral, they constantly cry, hint that the deceased is only worse from this. But do not write this in your own name, but convey this information indirectly, referring to the sermon of the clergyman, religious literature. In Christianity, there really is an opinion that excessive tears that develop into hysterics bring suffering to the deceased.
Step 5
At the end of your letter, do not write such terrible phrases as “life goes on”, “what can we do, we will all be there”, etc. These words will not only not comfort your family, but will also make you look extremely bad. Instead, say that the deceased will always live in the souls of those who loved him, and there were many such people.
