The environmental situation in the world is rapidly deteriorating. The man is to blame for changes that are unfavorable for life, cutting down forests, extracting and consuming a huge amount of various resources, simplifying his life through harmful inventions. As a result of such actions, an unflattering rating of the most polluted cities in Russia emerged.

Step 1

The most polluted city in Russia was calculated by ROSSTAT - the Federal State Statistics Service. The creators of the official bulletin describing the ecological situation in the country, in their research relied on two most important indicators today: how much emissions from stationary sources and from vehicles pollute the atmosphere. The amount of harmful substances was summed up, as a result of which a general rating was compiled for all cities of the country. However, it should be noted that the specialists were not completely objective. The allocation of places did not take into account the level of toxicity of emitted substances, as well as the area of cities.

Step 2

The tenth most polluted city in Russia is Magnitogorsk. A city in the Chelyabinsk region annually emits 256 thousand tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere. The main "pollutant" of Magnitogorsk is the metallurgical plant located there. It accounts for almost 90% of all emissions. And only 10% is given by transport.

Step 3

Angarsk is on the ninth line of the unpleasant hit parade. This industrial city in the Irkutsk region produces almost 280 thousand tons of emissions annually. 95.5% is accounted for by petrochemical, electrochemical, nitrogen fertilizer and other plants. Omsk, which took the eighth place, was ahead of Angarsk by only 11 thousand tons of emissions (291.6 thousand tons per year). However, in this city, the role of stationary sources is noticeably lower and amounts to just over 70%.

Step 4

The seventh place was taken by Novokuznetsk. This city is one of the largest coal mining and metallurgical centers of the mill. As a result, the regional city in the Kemerovo region emits almost 320 thousand tons of harmful emissions per year. And just over 90% is accounted for by industrial plants and enterprises.

Step 5

Lipetsk is in sixth place, just slightly ahead of Novokuznetsk. The city emits about 323 thousand tons into the atmosphere a year. The main negative impact on the environment comes from the local metallurgical plant. On his "conscience" 92% of all emissions.

Step 6

In the middle of the rating, in fifth place, was the city of Asbestos. Its share in pollution is 330 thousand tons. As the name suggests, the main negative factor is the asbestos mining and processing industry - they account for almost 99% of the emissions.

Step 7

The fourth place in the ranking of the most polluted cities in Russia was taken by Cherepovets. It carries out almost 365 thousand tons of emissions. About 60% of them are accounted for by Severstal, the city's main metallurgical plant in the Vologda Oblast.

Step 8

In third place was St. Petersburg. Industry and the extraction of natural resources in this place are practically not engaged. The main factor of the city's pollution is transport: it emits about 86% of the total amount of 488 thousand tons.

Step 9

The second place was taken by Moscow. As in St. Petersburg, the capital has no serious industry and large factories, but the traffic flow is huge. As a result, about 996 thousand tons of harmful substances are emitted in Moscow annually. 93% of them supply cars and other vehicles.

Step 10

The most polluted city in Russia today is Norilsk. Almost 1960 thousand tons of harmful substances are emitted here annually. The main factor worsening the environmental situation is the famous Norilsk Nickel plant - it accounts for 99% of pollution.
