A visitor visa differs from others in that the purpose of your visit to the country is to visit a friend or relative living there. To confirm this, you must provide the consulate with an invitation and documents confirming the status of the person inviting you in the country of his residence. The procedure for issuing an invitation in different countries may differ significantly.

It is necessary

  • - an invitation from a foreign host;
  • - other documents from the package for a short-term visa;
  • - money to pay the consular fee.

Instructions

Step 1

In many countries, to issue an invitation, you must contact the migration office and send the invitee the original of the document received there. In this case, the service for issuing an invitation is usually paid. There may also be restrictions on the status of the inviting party. For example, only a citizen of the Czech Republic or the holder of a permanent residence permit, which is required after five years of residence in the country with a temporary residence permit, can invite a foreigner to the Czech Republic. The owners of a temporary one do not have such an opportunity.

Step 2

Check with the consulate the requirements for the invitation: whether it must be the original (and most often it is needed) or is it enough, for example, a fax or a printout of an e-mail, is there a strict form according to which this document should be drawn up, or any kind of information is suitable must be contained in it. Pass all requirements to the inviting party.

Most likely, the consulate will also want to see proof of the status of the inviting party in their state: a copy of the passport page with personal data, a residence permit. Check with the specific consulate and also pass on the information received to the person who invites you.

Step 3

Gather the rest of the documents required to apply for a visa as required by the consulate. Most likely, you will need a certificate of employment and / or other evidence of financial solvency. For example, a statement of the balance on a bank account and the history of receipts to it for a period of six months or more. Travel insurance is more often needed. Tickets will also be required. You will need a passport (and sometimes an internal passport), a photograph that meets the requirements of the consulate (usually they can be found on its website), a completed visa application form.

Step 4

In some cases, you can fill out a visa application form electronically on the website of the consulate, visa center.

Step 5

The procedure for applying for a visa at a consulate or visa center is also different. Some of them accept only by appointment by phone or via the Internet. In others, on a first come, first served basis.

Find out this issue at the consulate of interest and act according to the situation. If necessary, make an appointment and come at the appointed time.

Step 6

When submitting documents, you will have to pay a consular fee. In this regard, each consulate also has its own policy. In some, it is accepted in cash at the cash desk of the embassy. Specify in what currency money is accepted: in rubles, euros or another, and if there are additional requirements. There are also consulates that accept payments through a bank. In some cases, it is done on the day of contact with the details received at the consulate, in others you must have a receipt for payment on the day of submission of documents.

Step 7

When all the documents are ready and handed over to the consulate or visa center, you will be assigned the day on which you must come for a decision. In case of a successful outcome, you will receive a passport with a ready-made visa in your hands.
