Andreas Thom was born on September 7, 1965 in the city of Rüdersdorf, East Germany. He grew up in a prosperous family. Career

At the age of 19, Andreas began his professional career. After completing his studies at a general education institution, he decided not to enter an educational institution of a higher level and give himself up to sports. Subsequently, he nevertheless continued his education and this allowed him not only to better master his profession, but also to be able to teach it to others.

Club career

In 1974, Tom made his debut in the youth team "Dynamo" (GDR). He played in this team until 1983, having spent as many as 7 seasons in it. Andreas showed himself on a very good side and earned popularity. During this time, he won 5 cups and twice became the champion of the GDR.

In 1988, Andreas Thom was named the best player in the GDR. This victory did not come easily to him, but in an interview the footballer admitted that it came as a complete surprise to him. After receiving such widespread recognition, he believed in himself and wanted to move on. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the footballer moved to the Bayer 04 club. He played with this team for 5 years and won the German Cup.

In 1995 Tom joined Celtic Scottish club. As part of this club, he became the champion of Scotland. Andreas played at Celtic for only 3 years, after which he moved to Gert Berlin. The footballer admitted that the transitions from team to team were not easy for him every time. I had to rebuild, get used to new people, to the coach. But this was necessary, as it allowed the player to grow and gain new experience and skills. Andreas is a peaceful and non-conflicting person. He maintains excellent relationships with all coaches and former colleagues. In 2001, he ended his career as a professional player.

National team career

In addition to being active in several clubs, Andreas Thom was part of the GDR national team. In 1984, he made his national team debut, playing against the Algerian team. The footballer admitted that he was very happy when he was invited to play in the national team. As part of the GDR national team, he played 51 matches and scored 19 goals during this time. After the unification of Germany, he played for her national team.   • Scottish League Cup (1996/1997 season).

After the end of his professional player career, Andreas became involved in coaching. First, he got a job as an assistant coach for the Hertha team. For 2 weeks he served as head coach. Under his leadership, the team took part in 3 championship matches.

Andreas' next place of work was the Holstein club. After spending several seasons there as an assistant, Tom returned to "Hertha". Since 2010, the footballer has been coaching the youth team there. He really likes this type of activity. Andreas recalls how he played in youth clubs, what problems he faced. Pupils of the football player respect and value him as a professional.

Personal life

The personal life of a football player has never become public. Tom Andreas is a rather private person and prefers not to discuss personal matters with journalists.
