The catch phrase that there is always room for exploits in life is known to everyone who studied at school. Sergei Barinov least of all thought about awards and prizes when he was saving people. He assessed the degree of risk to his life after the completion of the rescue operation.
Childhood and youth
Emergencies happen at all latitudes and at any time of the year. Storm winds, fires and floods wreak havoc on the economy and claim lives. Almost every year in the media there are reports of an emergency in water bodies. In March 1995, a storm began in the Curonian Lagoon. A large ice floe was blown off by the wind, on which there were more than a hundred people, lovers of ice fishing. The rescue services did not show due promptness. The danger of the situation was quickly and accurately assessed by Sergei Mikhailovich Barinov, a local police officer.
The future Hero of Russia was born on January 24, 1966 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in the village of Kashirskoye in the Kaliningrad region. Both father and mother worked at the state farm. The Barinovs grew potatoes and other vegetables on their personal plot. They kept a cow and a pig. Sergei was prepared from an early age for an independent life. They taught me to work. At school, the boy did not study badly, but he did not have enough stars from the sky. After the eighth grade, I decided to get a special education at a local vocational school.
Service activities
According to the current laws, when the age approached, Sergei was drafted into the ranks of the armed forces. Since he had a specialty "crane operator", the conscript was assigned a place of service by the railway troops. Barinov was honored to lay the famous Baikal-Amur Mainline. After demobilization, he returned home, to his usual way of life. There was always a shortage of machine operators in construction organizations, and he was hired as a crane operator. After a while, Barinov was invited to serve in the internal affairs bodies. Here, the car turned out to be new, and the pay was higher.
One day in March 1995, by the evening, a strong wind tore off the ice floe from the coast. Many fishermen did not manage to get off this ice floe. A stormy wind raged over the bay and the risk of death for people increased every minute. Then Sergei Barinov, who witnessed the incident, together with a neighbor launched a motor boat and began to remove the fishermen from the ice platform. Before nightfall, they loaded the small boat and delivered people to the shore. 8 people were transported in one flight. In total, 47 fishermen in trouble were rescued.
Recognition and privacy
When Sergei Barinov went out to sea, he least of all thought about a career or about awards. He clearly understood the degree of risk to his life. Thank God everything worked out. For saving people, Sergei Mikhailovich Barinov was awarded the honorary title of Hero of Russia.
The personal life of the police officer Barinov can be told in a nutshell. He is legally married. The husband and wife raised three sons. At the moment, Sergei Mikhailovich is on a well-deserved rest.
