Only about a hundred cases of shark attacks on humans are registered in the world every year. But this is quite enough to take all possible measures and not increase the figures of the gloomy statistics.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not go into water if you have fresh wounds or scratches on your body. Women are strictly forbidden to swim during critical days. Remember: a shark can smell fresh blood from a kilometer away. That is why try to avoid swimming in places of active fishing, as the shark can be attracted by the smell of fish wounded by nets.
Step 2
Don't swim too far. Although shark attacks have been known to occur in shallow waters, the chances of rescue are drastically reduced on the high seas, especially if you are swimming alone. If you nevertheless decide to embark on a solo voyage, be sure to put on a tight wetsuit and, if possible, take with you some weighty item that will come in handy in any case (for example, a camera).
Step 3
If you see a shark, remember: your main weapon is calmness, and your first enemy is panic. Be restrained, try to move as little as possible, while retreating slowly to the shore or watercraft. Do not try to swim away from it: in any case, the shark swims faster than you.
Step 4
Please note: the shark never attacks the object of attention immediately. Before attacking, the shark makes several circles around the object that interests it. Do not wait for her to come close to you and bite you.
Step 5
Watch the movements of the shark in order to react in time and take the necessary self-defense measures.
Step 6
In the event that a shark tried to attack you, fight it off by all available means. Try to hit the gills or eyes. According to statistics, only every tenth case of a person meeting a shark ends up fatal for him. If the shark decides that you are not as defenseless as you initially seem, it will leave you alone.
