Every year, in late spring and summer, we are warned: be careful, remember to protect yourself from ticks, especially when you go on vacation in parks and out of town. But how often do people dismiss these reminders like an annoying fly? Often - more than 450 thousand people who suffer from tick bites visit the hospital every year.

Let's remember Going to the forest or park, you need:

  • Wear light colored clothing. It is easier to spot a tick on it than on a dark one.
  • Choose a sweater or jacket with elastic cuffs. They will protect your hands.
  • Wear a T-shirt or a T-shirt under a jacket and tuck it into trousers.
  • Tuck trousers into socks or shoes. Yes, ugly. But it is safe.
  • Apply a repellent to clothing in areas where the tick can crawl onto the skin. Remember that such remedies usually do not last long - about 3-4 hours. Take the repellent with you: if the rest takes longer, you can re-treat the clothes.
  • Wear a hat. Finding mites in the hair is difficult, and treating the bite on the head is even more difficult.
  • Do not lie down or sit on the grass. If you plan to spend the night in the forest, make sure that you are not bitten by a tick before spending the night. For parking, choose a place free of grass and bushes. The ideal option is a pine forest or a sandy area.

After returning home, make sure that the protection is effective. Have a friend or family member take a close look at you.

If the tick does bite you, you will have to force it to unhook. The classic method with sunflower oil in most cases is absolutely useless - the tick does not come out either after ten minutes or after an hour. In addition, he will not be taken for research after this procedure - i.e. you will not be able to check if an encephalitis tick has bitten you or not. A more effective way is to gently rotate the tick until it comes out of the wound. You cannot pull and pull - otherwise you will simply tear the body away from the head. If you are not sure that you can do everything right - and without experience it is almost impossible to avoid mistakes - it is better to immediately go to the hospital. There the bloodsucker will be carefully removed and sent for research.

If you still managed to get the tick out, remember one more simple rule: you must definitely go to the hospital. This rule is too often neglected, preferring to play the lottery with fate - lucky or unlucky.
