He made a revolution, because he understood faster than many of his comrades what the consequences of anarchy would be. He became the arbiter of destinies and died because of his own carelessness.

The path to freedom is thorny. Overthrowing the dictatorship, people should remember that there will be those who will propose, along with absurd rules, to send law and order to the dustbin of history. Fighting such enthusiasts delays and turns yesterday's troublemakers into supporters of tyranny. The biography of our hero is confirmation of this.

Childhood

Ivan Kurskiy lived in Kiev and worked as an engineer. He married the landowner's daughter Maria. In October 1874 she gave him a son, who was named Dmitry. In total, the couple had four children. Happiness did not last long - the head of the family died suddenly. The family had to move to the Poltava province, where the widow's relatives lived. The mother and the babies were received there unfriendly.

Dima sympathized with the grief of loved ones and dreamed of saving them from poverty. An educational institution where the boy could be admitted to study for a modest fee was a gymnasium in the provincial town of Priluki. After finishing it, the teenager managed to enter the Pavel Galan College in Kiev, where he could prepare for a university. The smart boy graduated for his successes and was awarded a gold medal upon graduation. The excellent student asked to give him money instead of an award, which he immediately sent to his mother.

Youth

The brilliant graduate of the College was educated at Moscow University. He received a diploma in jurisprudence in 1900. Together with his knowledge of the subject, our hero received information about the resistance movement to autocracy. Knowing from childhood about the troubles of the poor, Kurskiy joined the revolutionaries. The teachers tried to hush up an unpleasant episode in the life of a talented student - in 1896 he went to prison for participating in street riots. This episode prevented him from pursuing a teaching career at Alma Mater.

A place for the unreliable young man was found in the Railway Administration. Working days did not prevent Dmitry Kursky from establishing his personal life - in 1901 he became the husband of Anna Roginskaya. The following year, he changed jobs and began appearing in court. During the Russian-Japanese war, our hero was drafted into the army, but soon demobilized due to injury. Returning to the capital, he continued to practice law.

The revolution

In 1904 Dmitry joined the RSDLP. In the fall of the following year, a strike began in Moscow, the workers demanded economic and political freedoms. The authorities ignored the strikers and an armed uprising began. The young Bolshevik took part in it. After the defeat, he was not arrested, therefore he continued the struggle underground, published illegal literature, and in 1907 became a member of the leadership of the Moscow branch of the RSDLP. The case ended with the arrest in 1909. It was not possible to send the troublemaker to jail for a long time.

With the outbreak of the First World War, the veteran of the Russo-Japanese came under mobilization. In the rank of ensign, he participated in the Brusilov breakthrough. The soldiers trusted a politically literate comrade, therefore, after the February Revolution, they elected him to the committee of the Romanian Front. In November, he hurried from Odessa to Moscow to help his fellow party members who had taken power into their own hands.

Judgment between dream and reality

Dmitry Kurskiy, as a person with a legal education, was entrusted with organizing the judicial system in a young country. The ideal of proletarian justice had to surpass the version that existed under the tsar, due to the exactingness of the arguments of the prosecution, and also fundamentally refuse to impose cruel punishments for criminals. The romanticism of the first years of Soviet power and the civil war led to a rampant crime. Kurskiy had to tighten the screws. Since 1919he became a member of the Revolutionary Military Council and often visited the front, where he observed a terrifying picture.

Dmitry Kurskiy tried to solve the problem of anarchy in the country by endowing the courts with maximum rights and appointing the most authoritative people there. The plan worked - criminals began to fear the law. However, great power also corrupted many assessors of the tribunals. Later, folk art turned this disillusioned dreamer into a bloodthirsty tyrant.

Interests of the country

From the first days of Soviet power, our hero participated in the development of the Constitution of the Country of Soviets. He made a significant contribution to the formation of the Labor Code. In 1921 the famous Bolshevik became a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, two years later he was elected to the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. To bring the judicial system out of the critical state in which it was during the Civil War, the old Bolshevik devoted himself to introducing prosecutorial supervision.

In 1928 Kurskiy was assigned a responsible task - he was sent to represent the Soviet Union in Italy. In many respects, through the efforts of the diplomat, the lives of the members of the Italia airship expedition were again saved. One could not expect high achievements in negotiations with the government of Benito Mussolini; Adolf Hitler's Germany became his ideological ally.

Our hero returned to his homeland in 1932. At the beginning of December he was working with papers and pierced his finger. The man did not consider this incident dangerous and did not turn to doctors for help. He didn't know there was an infection in the wound. He was brought to the hospital a few days later in a serious condition. A few days later, Dmitry Kurskiy died, the cause of death was blood poisoning.
