It is generally accepted that talented and energetic people die in the first place. This is partly true. Although the soldiers and sailors who have accepted mortal combat, very often remain nameless and, as it is sung in the harsh song, become just earth and grass. At the same time, bright and purposeful personalities remain in the memory of the descendants. Caesar Lvovich Kunikov, whose image was cast in bronze and carved in granite, was remembered as the commander of an airborne detachment.

Sea - full back

Caesar Kunikov did not have to participate in the civil war. Haven't come out for years. At the same time, it can with good reason be attributed to the galaxy of enthusiasts, for whom there are no barriers either at sea or on land. His biography took shape under the influence of new social processes. The country has been progressively developing, building up its cultural and industrial potential. Caesar became an active Komsomol member and was educated in two higher educational institutions. He received diplomas from the Moscow Industrial Academy and the Mechanical Engineering Institute.

The career of a young engineer was developing successfully. Work and creativity filled his life completely. I must say that a few years earlier, Kunikov dreamed of becoming a naval officer. And even entered the Leningrad Higher Naval School. However, for health reasons, as they say, he was “written off to the shore”. The career of a sea captain did not take place, but the love for the sea did not fade. And life went on, and indulging in despondency or looking at the bottom of a glass was simply not in his character.

In Soviet educational institutions, technical disciplines were taught properly. Coming to production, Caesar in the shortest possible time proved himself to be a competent specialist and a skillful organizer. Suffice it to say that after a short period of time he was appointed director of the Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering Technology. In parallel with this, Kunikov edits the all-Union newspaper "Mashinostroenie". Devotion and love for the entrusted work, the native country awarded the editor with the medal "For Labor Distinction".

Volunteer to the front

The personal life of Kunikov, who disappeared all day at work, developed according to well-established traditions. The time came, and another family was formed under the stars of Moscow. Month after month we went in order. The husband and wife set up their home. A child appeared - the son of Yuri. And I didn't want to believe in how fragile family happiness would be in the cycle of world events. The Soviet people were preparing to repel the aggression of the fascists. And, despite all the precautions taken, the war began unexpectedly.

Caesar Lvovich Kunikov had "iron" rights to "armor" from being drafted into the army. However, a responsible employee of the People's Commissariat of Mechanical Engineering, with his inherent intelligence and brilliance, achieved a referral to a naval unit. He knew firsthand how the crew of a warship lived and worked. A detachment of patrol boats took an active part in hostilities in the Azov Sea and the Don delta. The situation on the fronts evolved in different ways and Major Kunikov was appointed commander of the 305th separate battalion of the marines.

In February 1943, as part of offensive operations, a marine detachment under the command of Caesar Kunikov landed on the now famous section of the coast near Novorossiysk. "Small land" recaptured from the enemy served as the basis for the great Victory in the Black Sea theater of operations. Skillfully using the available resources, the Marines were able to repel the furious attacks of the brutal fascists and wait for reinforcements. In one of the battles, battalion commander Kunikov was seriously wounded and died of his wounds. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
