Clara Zetkin is an important figure in the history of our country. She presented Russian women with International Women's Day on March 8. The life of this woman was not easy, but interesting.
Childhood
Clara Zetkin was born in 1857 in Saxony. Her father was a teacher, a very educated person. From childhood, Klara was distinguished by an outstanding mind and a desire for knowledge.
Thanks to her abilities, Klara received a free education at a prestigious female gymnasium. At that time it was an out of the ordinary business.
Personal life
Clara Zetkin got into politics thanks to love. At the age of eighteen, she met Osip Zetkin, an emigrant from Russia. He was not handsome and smart, but he was extremely eloquent. In addition, Osip was an ardent Social Democrat.
The heart of the young girl trembled, and she devoted her life to this guy, demanding nothing in return. Osip never married her, and she bore him two sons - Konstantin and Maxim. Faithful Clara dragged her lover across Europe, often feeding and providing for him, until he died of tuberculosis in 1889.
Clara was very upset about the death of her lover. She plunged headlong into politics and became a prominent figure in social democratic circles.
Soon Klara met a young artist Georg Friedrich Zundel and married him. The age difference between the couple was about twenty years. But the marriage was happy for a long time. Clara earned good money, the family lived in abundance in a good house. Clara Zetkin was one of the first in her city to buy a car, an unspeakable luxury at that time. But twenty years later, Tsundel left Klara for a young mistress.
Friendship with Rosa Luxemburg
The woman was heartbroken. In addition, she began to lose her eyesight. At this moment, a faithful friend, Rosa Luxemburg, appeared in her life. Rose helped Clara cope with personal grief, and together they went into politics.
The disagreement between the friends occurred only once, when Clara found out about Rose's close relationship with her son Constantine. However, the women soon reconciled, and Rosa Luxemburg cohabited with Konstantin Zetkin for many years.
Rosa Luxemburg was ugly and lame from birth. Since childhood, she heard bullying and did not enjoy the attention of the opposite sex. Clara Zetkin was somewhat more fortunate in her personal life, but she also suffered a lot from men. And these two women became the founders of the struggle for women's rights.
They have achieved a lot. Women no longer consider themselves a second class of people and do not lower their eyes at the sight of an unfamiliar man. But haven't they lost along with this security and stable life under the wing of the stronger sex? The question is debatable.
last years of life
Clara Zetkin spent the last years of her life in a boarding house near Moscow. She was friends with Lenin and Krupskaya, who often visited her. The great revolutionary died in 1933. They say that before she died, she called Rose.
