Colleagues in the shop call him the guru of sports journalism. He is always ready to issue a historical background, formulate a forecast or assess the current situation in the standings. Igor Rabiner is a Russian sports journalist.
Starting conditions
At a certain stage of its development, in the Soviet country, sports were considered as a preparatory stage for military service. Hey goalkeeper, get ready for the fight. You are sent as sentry at the gate. In such a simple way, the children were brought up future fighters. On almost every street or in the courtyard, children gambled at football or in the towns. Igor Yakovlevich Rabiner at an early age was no different from his peers. If necessary, he skipped lessons at school, so as not to leave without the support of his comrades in a crucial match, which was often held in a vacant lot.
The future journalist and sports columnist was born on February 13, 1973 in an intelligent Soviet family. Parents lived in Moscow. My father worked as a safety engineer at a radio plant. Mother taught Russian language and literature at the Pedagogical Institute. The child grew up surrounded by care and attention. The boy was seriously prepared for an independent life. He was taught to always tell the truth. Don't give up on your words. Respect the elders and not mock the weak. Igor grew up as a smart boy and had a good memory.
Professional activity
After school, Rabiner decided to get a specialized education at the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University. It so happened that during his student years, he continued to follow sports events in the country and abroad. And not just follow, but respond in writing. His responses and remarks were willingly published in various publications under the heading "Sports Life". In 1994 Igor received his diploma in journalism. By that time, the transition to market principles of relations was in full swing in the country. Sports schools, clubs and sections were either closed or turned into commercial structures.
The famous sports club "Spartak" was going through a difficult period. Since childhood, Rabiner considered himself to be the fans of this club. Observing current events, the journalist gathered up-to-date information and wrote a book entitled “How Spartak Was Killed”. For two years Igor worked as a correspondent for the Sport-Express newspaper in the USA. This time was enough to write the book "Kings of Ice". In it, the author spoke about the fate of Russian hockey players overseas. Returning to his native shores, Rabiner wrote several topical articles about the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Rabiner's journalistic career was quite successful. He has received and continues to receive awards for his coverage of hot topics. Along with praise, he is harshly criticized by opponents and offended individuals. Once even illegally dismissed from work. But Igor Yakovlevich defended his position in court.
