The art of holding cutlery correctly is due to its ease of use and is spelled out in etiquette books. To handle fish or meat with a knife and fork, you need to know a few simple principles.
Instructions
Step 1
Take the knife in your leading hand. For the majority of the world's population, this is the right hand. Take it comfortably, blade up.
Step 2
Take the fork in your driven hand, most likely in your left (if you are not left-handed), with the handle down. Put your index finger on the "back" of the device.
Step 3
To cut a piece of meat, fish or other dish without changing the position of your fingers, lower the cutlery: a fork about three centimeters from the edge of the piece. Stick in until the fork is firmly in place. Use a knife to cut a piece, holding it perpendicular to the fork.
Step 4
Place the cut piece on the fork in your left hand. You can eat it.
Step 5
If you eat with a fork without a knife, hold the fork in a comfortable hand, hold it in your right (leading) hand.
