Brief biography of H. Wells
The future famous writer was born in the city of Bromley on September 21, 1866. His father at that time was a simple gardener, and his mother was a maid. A little later, the Wells family managed to save some money and become the owners of a small porcelain shop. This business brought little income and the family of the future science fiction writer lived mainly on the money earned by his father playing cricket.
The author of The War of the Worlds, Herbert Wells, studied at King's College, London. He received a diploma of its completion in 1888. Later he was awarded two academic degrees and in the end he became a doctor of biology. In 1893, H. G. Wells decided to take up journalism professionally.
The writer was married twice. But his relationship with his first wife did not work out. Wells' second wife bore him two sons and died of cancer. The last love of the writer was Maria Zakrevskaya-Budberg. This Soviet diplomat was allegedly a double agent of British intelligence and the OGPU. Wells began dating her after she broke up with Maxim Gorky.
H. Wells died in August 1946, on the 13th, at the age of 80 due to metabolic problems. On August 16, the writer was cremated at Goldes Green in London.
