John Dahl is an American film director and screenwriter. Among his most successful projects are such films as Kill Me Again, The Vampire Diaries, Shameless, Hannibal and others.

American director John Dahl was born in 1956 in Billings, the largest city in the American state of Montana. His family was large. John has three siblings.

Details about the childhood and youth of this director are few. However, it is known that he studied at Montana State University, namely at the film and photography school of this university, where he received a degree in film. John later moved to Los Angeles to continue his studies at the AFI Conservatory.

Career and creativity

Early in his career, John Dahl worked as an assistant director and storyboard artist. In 1989, he presented his first directorial work, Kill Me Again. The crime story about the adventures of the cunning criminal Fay Forrester was well received by both audiences and film critics.

The successful debut inspired the director to create another crime thriller, West of the Red Rock. This time, the plot is focused on the former military man Michael Williams, who, by coincidence, learns about the murders preparing in the small town of Red Rock. Meanwhile, the unwanted witness itself becomes a target for the criminal. Hollywood actors such as Nicolas Cage, Dennis Hopper and Lara Flynn Boyle played the main roles in the film.

Over the next few years, Dahl continued to direct feature films. Among his works of the 90s are the thriller "Fallen Angels", the dramas "The Last Seduction" and "Sharpshooter".

Director John Dahl has been married to Beth Yana Friedberg for many years. He met his wife while studying at Montana State University. Later, they went together to the AFI Conservatory, where they continued their studies.
