Biography of the athlete

The future biathlete was born on July 31, 1987 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. From childhood, Svetlana was a very mobile girl. Therefore, her parents sent her to play sports. At first it was martial arts, and then biathlon. Moreover, Sleptsova began to get involved in biathlon in the third grade of high school. It was then that she enrolled in the section of this winter sport.

Svetlana has always given herself completely in training and earned the respect of the coaches. Therefore, when the girl wanted to quit her studies, the experts persuaded Sleptsova to stay. As soon as the first successes in the competition appeared, Svetlana began to study very poorly at school. But the parents did not scold the girl, but, on the contrary, supported her in everything. Perhaps, understanding from close people helped the athlete to reach certain heights in biathlon.

Since 2000 Sleptsova has been participating in various competitions throughout Russia. After several prizes, she is awarded the title of candidate for master of sports. And already in 2004 she became a master of sports in biathlon. This success is followed by an invitation to the Russian national team.

The following year, at the junior world championship, the girl wins a gold medal in the individual race, and also regularly rises to the podium. Already in 2007, Svetlana wins races twice at the same world championship among juniors. This attracts the attention of the coaching staff of the adult Russian national team. At the end of the season, Sleptsova is taken into its composition.

The young biathlete immediately begins to prove that she was not chosen in vain. Already in her first season at the highest level, Svetlana won one of the stages of the World Cup in Ruhpolding. The next year, the girl becomes the world champion in the relay and receives the title of Honored Master of Sports.

In 2010, Sleptsova, along with other Russian biathletes, won a gold medal at the Vancouver Olympics. This becomes the most important success in the career of an athlete. She is awarded the state award "Order of Friendship".

After successes at the Olympics, Svetlana began to treat training worse. Therefore, the sports indicators have crept down sharply. This resulted in the lowest overall World Cup ranking in her career. Also in mid-2012, Svetlana suffered a knee injury and an urgent operation was required. The girl was transferred to the second national team of Russia.

She has been participating in the IBU Biathlon Cup for several seasons. Sometimes Svetlana makes futile attempts to return to the main team, but she fails to regain the trust of the coaches.

In 2016, Sleptsova was returned to the base of the Russian national team. Great hopes are pinned on her in the new season, but the girl does not perform very well. At the end of the year, Sleptsova announces the end of her international sports career.

Personal life of a biathlete

It came as a complete surprise to everyone when Sleptsova announced her retirement in 2017. But then the reason for this decision was revealed. Svetlana was pregnant. At the same time, the girl is extremely reluctant to talk about her personal life and hides the name of her chosen one. In April 2018, Sleptsova had a child, a boy. But it is not yet known exactly whether the biathlete got married or not.

The girl has two higher educations. In 2008, Svetlana received a diploma in the specialty "trainer-teacher", and two years later - state and municipal administration.
