early years

Boris Borisovich was born on November 27, 1953. The family lived in Leningrad. His father was an engineer, his mother was a lawyer. The boy studied at school in-depth study of mathematics. He was fond of music, mastered the guitar, composed songs.

After school, Grebenshchikov began to study at the university (department of applied mathematics). Together with his friend Anatoly Gunitsky, they created the Aquarium group. At first, the songs were written in English, later compositions in Russian were included in the repertoire.

Creative career

In 1973, the first musical album "The Temptation of the Holy Aquarium" was released. In 1974 the collective created a theater group. Some members of the group became interested in drama and left the team. At that time, Aquarium was banned from rehearsing at the university.

Later, the cellist Gekkel Vsevolod appeared in the group, and Grebenshchikov began to create hits. In 1981, cooperation with Tropilo Andrey's studio began.

In 1980, "Aquarium" performed in Tbilisi at a rock festival, for which Grebenshchikov was dismissed from his position as a research assistant. Performances were banned. Boris got a job as a janitor, the group began to gather at concerts - "home".

After meeting Sergei Kuryokhin, an avant-garde artist, Boris appeared in the TV show "Merry Boys". In 1981 Grebenshchikov became a member of the Leningrad rock club. In 1982 he was the producer of the group of the first album of the famous group "Kino".

Later, 2 albums with songs in English were released - "Radio London", "Radio Silence". In 1990, "Aquarium" stopped working. Grebenshchikov created the BG-Band group, but in 1993 he resumed the activities of Aquarium.

During the years of perestroika, the musician began performing in concert halls, clubs, and creating music for films. At that time, he began to get involved in Buddhism, became a student of the lama. Grebenshchikov is considered a promoter of humanistic values.

Since 2005, Boris Borisovich began to host the "Aerostat" program on Radio Russia, of which he is the author. In 2013, the line-up was renewed again, with the addition of Finnigan Brian, a flute player from Ireland. The collective became known as "Aquarium International".

Since 1981 Grebenshchikov has been acting in films ("Tender Age", "Thirst", etc.). He is also invited to participate in performances. Boris Borisovich is the author of several books and translations from Hindu and Buddhist treatises.

Personal life

In 1976, Natalia Kozlovskaya became the wife of Boris Borisovich. They had a daughter, Alice, who became an actress.

In 1980 Grebenshchikov married Shulgina Lyudmila, an artist. Previously, she lived in a civil marriage with Haeckel Vsevolod. Their son Gleb appeared in 1984.

In 1991, Boris Borisovich married Irina Titova. She had two children from her former husband - Vasilisa, Mark.
