One of the masters of Soviet and Russian pop music - Boris Grebenshchikov - today is a real symbol of Russian rock. Aristocratic appearance and unique performance of musical compositions make him a legend in the full sense.

Brief biography and discography of Boris Grebenshchikov

The future artist was born on November 27, 1953 in a family of Petersburg intellectuals. His passion for music from early childhood played a decisive role in his seemingly purely mathematical future, since after high school he continued his education at the Leningrad University at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics. It was here that the subsequently popular "Aquarium" group was born.

Boris took the first steps on the path of musical ascent together with his school friend - Anatoly Gunitsky (George). After a while, creative intuition prompted the talented guys to switch from performing musical compositions in English, which they began to sing on the populist wave of their time, exclusively to their native dialect.

The first album, The Temptation of the Holy Aquarium, was self-published in 1973. In the next 1974, in the expanded composition of the group (M. Feinstein and A. Romanov were added), young people were so carried away by drama at their university that music remained in the background. But the strong-willed effort of BG and his universal talent do not allow the team to fall apart. And in 1976 the album "On the other side of the mirror glass" was released and in 1978 - "All are brothers-sisters".

But real popularity began to come to the artist in 1981, when the following albums were released: "Acoustics", "Triangle", "Blue Album", "Taboo", "Silver Day" and "Children of December". But even this period in the life of a talented performer of original music and lyrics cannot be called trouble-free. The expulsion from the Komsomol, dismissal from work (from the position of a junior researcher) and a ban on musical activities led to the "apartment format" (concerts in the apartment) and employment as a janitor.

But acquaintance with Sergei Kuryokhin brings him under the cameras on the program "Merry Boys", which allowed him to join the Leningrad rock club, and then in 1982 to produce the first album of Viktor Tsoi. In 1989 he managed to release two records in the USA: "Radio Silence" and "Radio London".

The artist's continuous creative search does not become a fame. So, in 1998 he was awarded the Triumph Prize, in 2000 - the People of Our City Prize, in 2001 - the Fuzz magazine prize, in 2002 - the OUR Radio Prize and the Tsarskoye Selo Art Prize, in 2003 - the Order of Merit before the Fatherland IV degree.

Since 2005 BG has been the permanent host of the author's program "Aerostat" on Radio Russia. Interesting facts about the artist's creative biography include a solo concert in 2007 at the UN. Since 2013, the "Aquarium" group has been renamed into Aquarium International and has somewhat changed its composition.

In addition, BG is a theater and film actor. The list of films and theatrical performances includes the following: "Thirst", "Long Road Home", "Black Rose - the emblem of sadness, red rose - the emblem of love", "Red on red", "Two Captains 2", "Tender Age". It is known that in many films the music of the "Aquarium" group sounds, and the musical "Music of the Silver Spokes", staged in 2014, was based on the songs of BG.

The talented musician was noted for a number of literary works of large and small forms, translation of a number of Buddhist and Hindu treatises.

Personal life of the artist

His first marriage in 1976 with Natalia Kozlovskaya BG survived only four years. In 1978, this family union gave the world the now famous Russian actress Alisa Grebenshchikova (birthday - June 12, 1978).

The second marriage with the artist Lyudmila Shulgina in 1980 was crowned with the birth of his son Gleb (now the famous DJ Gebe) on December 14, 1984. But BG could not use this chance for family happiness effectively, and the family sank into oblivion.

The third marriage in 1991 with Irina Titova (the former wife of the bass player of the "Aquarium" group) turned out to be the most successful and has stood the test of time to this day.
