Stepan Andreevich was born on January 1, 1909. Bandera's father was a priest of the Greek Catholic Church. They did not have their own home, so Bandera spent her childhood in a house that belonged to the church. Stepan's childhood years passed in a large family, where, as he argued, the ideas of patriotism were instilled in children. Bandera's parents were adherents of nationalism and did not hide this, so it is not at all surprising that little Stepan absorbed the values that he had been promoting all his life.

Activities

Bandera's political career began with joining the Union of Ukrainian Nationalist Youth. Later he entered the Lviv Higher Polytechnic School. Agronomy did not attract Stepan, and he dropped out of training.

1929 became the most important year for Bandera - it was then that he became a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, showing himself in one of the most radical youth movements. After that, Stepan's career began to strive upward. He held more and more posts, was involved in organizing retaliation and murders.

In 1936, many members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists were arrested. Bandera was among them: he was sentenced to death, but later the execution was commuted to life in prison.

When Germany invaded Poland, Stepan got out of prison and began collaborating with German military intelligence.

After Bandera revived the previous organization, which eventually became part of the Brandenburg-800 regiment. In 1941, they managed to occupy the territory of Lviv. At the same time, Stepan Bandera proclaimed the independence of Ukraine, because it was for it that he fought throughout his political career.

Germany was not pleased with such a turn, and therefore Stepan was arrested, and the rest of the organizers of the movement were shot. Bandera was kept not in an ordinary prison, but in a concentration camp. Together with him, many other Ukrainian nationalists were detained who were arrested. Their situation in the concentration camp was not the same as that of the other prisoners: the nationalists received money, necessary things and food from their families, and also could communicate with each other without any obstacles.

Later, the remnants of the Ukrainian legion performed police functions.

In 1944, Bandera was released, and he returned to political activity, although not as active as before.

In 1959, Stepan Bandera died. It is believed that he was poisoned, but this information cannot be called accurate. Bandera was buried in Munich, at the Waldfriedhof cemetery.
