For a long time, the name of Dmitry Frid was familiar to fans of foreign musicals. But when the series "Anna-detective" appeared on the screens, which became instantly popular, a new stage in his career began for the actor.
From athlete to actor
Dmitry Mikhailovich Fried himself admits that he never dreamed of an acting career. He was born in Moscow in 1968. For a long time, Dmitry was engaged in artistic gymnastics at the CSKA sports complex and received the title of master of sports. After returning from the army, a friend invited Dmitry, who by this time did not know what he wanted to do, to the Leader sports dance group. They were just recruiting young athletic guys going in for acrobatics. And Dmitry, who had never been fond of dancing before, decided to try it. Successfully performing in "Leader", Dmitry made several numbers for the "Bim Bom" theater.
In 1991, Fried was screened by Yuli Vdovin, a director and choreographer working in the West. Vdovin staged the musical "Russians on Broadway" and gathered a new troupe. The musical was a success in Canada. And Dmitry stayed in Toronto, having lived there for six years with his family, graduated from the acting school "Richmond school" and took part in seven musicals.
Soon Dmitry was selected to participate in a new production, but already in Germany, where he graduated from the School of Theater Arts "Merameo". The Fried family had to move again. In Berlin, Dmitry played in the productions of "The Bellman from Notre Dame" and "Cats". With "Cats" and "Mamma Mia!" Fried came to Moscow. In general, Dmitry spent twenty years participating in musicals. But at first it did not work out with the cinema at all. The actor got his first episodic role in 1997 in the film "The Peacemaker". And that's all. Then there was silence for ten years. Until the Ukrainian film "Hold Me Tight" needed an actor with excellent dance training. So Dmitry got his first leading role.
Big screen
Gradually, every year, pictures and television series with Frid's participation began to appear. In the cinema, they were mainly invited to act in Ukraine and in Russia, and offered the role of … foreigners. This was facilitated by Dmitry's European appearance, and his brilliant command of English, German and Spanish. In total, Fried took part in more than twenty films, including in foreign projects (where, ironically, he plays Russians).
In 2006, the television series "Anna-Detective" was released. Dmitry Frid, in the leading role of the district investigator Shtolman, was so organic that the female part of the population immediately fell to the television screens. We must pay tribute - the series really turned out great. This is confirmed by numerous awards, including international ones, and the purchase of film distribution rights in several countries.
After this starring role, Dmitry was no longer without work. The family, by the way, returned to Moscow as soon as Frida began to be approved for big roles. The actor does not tell about his personal life and hides his family. She goes to all presentations and premieres in the company of her film colleagues. It is known that Freed is married, his wife's name is Elena. Together, the couple are raising two children - daughter Alena and son Andrey.
