The Arabesque group remains one of the brightest events in music. Disco compositions with high-energy elements quickly gained their fans. Created at the suggestion of the producer of the legendary band "Boney'M", the collective won particular popularity in Japan and the USSR.
The history of the German female music group began in 1978. The famous master of disco, composer Frank Farian, registered a new team in Offenbach, where he owned a studio. The ladies' collective regularly released new singles, which were often played on dance floors.
Start
Named as a famous ballet figure, Arabesque, the new ensemble includes Karen Ann Tepperies, Michaela Rose and Mary Ann Nagel. The girls recorded the hit “Hello, Mr. Monkey . Then Nagel left the participants. She was replaced by Jasmine Vetter, who was previously part of the German gymnastics team.
After the first album "Friday night" Tepperise replaced Heike Rimbe. She also left the group after completing the first half of City Cats in 1979.
Sandra Lauer is the new member. Together with Jasmine and Michaela, she remained until the end of the collective's existence. The seventeen-year-old girl instantly became an informal leader: she was the soloist in most of the singles.
Confession
In Germany, the fashionable "ladies' trio" was treated calmly. The song "Marigot bay" was named the biggest success. The composition climbed to # 3 in the national charts. But the popularity of the group was constantly growing in Asian countries. The collective enjoyed particular love in Japan: the trio became an analogue of "ABBA".
The female vocalists came to the attention of the 1978 producer Jhinko Music in Cannes. To popularize the creativity of bright girls in his homeland, Mr. Quito made a lot of efforts.
In Japan, Arabesque performed annually. Concert 1982 released on cassettes and LPs. At the same time, a kind of video collection "Greatest hits" appeared. In total, the team visited the Land of the Rising Sun 6 times. All rights to publish the girls' compositions were bought by the Japanese, so the number of discs sold exceeded 10 million. The most popular performer at the turn of the 70s and 80s was the team in Argentina and the USSR. The singles of the group occupied high positions in the charts of Scandinavia, France, Italy.
New successes
For the entire time of his stage career, there was not a single failure. The singers performed dance songs, slow lyrics, and rock and roll. At the same time, in the light perky sound there was not even a hint of the primitiveness of many "girl-bands" of that time. The group chose 10 as their lucky number, because there are always ten songs on each album.
The team ceased to exist in 1984. Sandra's solo career developed successfully. The popular singer in the 90s became the voice of the "Enigma" project. The duet "Rouge" was created by Jasmine and Michaela. It revealed Jasmine's vocal talent.
The reunion of the pop group took place on December 16, 2006 on the "Retro FM Legends" show. The group of Michaela Rose, Sabine Kemper and Silke Brauner is called "Arabesque feat". In 2017, the digital release "Zanzibar" performed by Michaela was released.
The popularity of the old Arabesque songs has not diminished. All albums are constantly reprinted by Victor, the Japanese arm of BMG. In 2002 the collection "Greatest hits" was presented in DVD format.
