On May 11, 1969, the future famous football player and coach was born in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). From early childhood, Dmitry devoted all his free time to playing with the ball. This sport completely captured his imagination, even to the detriment of his academic performance in general education.
Therefore, the parents, supporting the life initiative of their son, arranged for him to enter the academy of the sports club "Torpedo", which the talented young man graduated from with excellent results. Taking part in the performances of his team, always in the starting lineup, Cheryshev lived up to the expectations of the coach and the fans. After all, his explosive character of the game and unique football flair, accompanied by a high level of preparation, brought the team a lot of benefits.
Creative football coaching career
1987 became Cheryshev's debut in professional activity. Together with his friend Igor Egorov, he played his first season in the Chemist Dzerzhinsk club. In the second league of the national championship, he was able to score two goals in fifteen matches played on the field. And then there was the Kantemirovskaya division, where an outstanding footballer gave his debt to the Motherland.
After demobilization, his career as a football player during the period from 1990 to 1992 was associated with the Nizhny Novgorod club Lokomotiv, where, under the leadership of Valery Ovchinnikov, he played 61 matches, scoring 10 goals. With his enormous contribution, the "railway workers" in 1992 entered the Major League of our country. And already in the first season, when Cheryshev entered the field 18 times, scoring 4 goals into the opponents' goal, his native club took sixth place.
And then he moved to FC Dynamo, with which he signed a four-year contract. It was during this period that the "finest hour" of the promising footballer fell. Here he played 104 games, in which he scored 37 goals. The next five-year period since 1996 in Dmitry Cheryshev's professional career was the Spanish "Sporting" (Gijon). The result was also impressive: 158 games and 47 goals.
The end of a football player's career took place in a player in the second and fourth divisions of the Spanish championship, and he played the final match in FC Aranjuem as an assistant coach. From that moment, Dmitry devoted his professional career to coaching, having received the appropriate license.
Cheryshev's coaching path was in 2006-2010 associated with the children's football team "Real" (Madrid), and then for five years in various positions in domestic clubs. In the summer of 2015, he became assistant coach of the Spanish FC Sevilla, and at the 2018 World Cup served as ambassador to Nizhny Novgorod.
Currently, Cheryshev Sr. works as the head coach of FC Nizhny Novgorod in his hometown.
