Biography and early years
Slava was born in the south of central Russia in the city of Belgorod. It happened on May 29, 1984. From an early age, he was distinguished by his activity and desire to be a leader. He loved football and boxing. At school he was the captain of the football team. I went to the boxing section. Already in childhood, as his mother, Larisa Maratovna, recalls, he was not afraid of any difficulties, he always strove to be in the forefront. After leaving school, he continued his education at a vocational school (vocational school).
Military service
In 2002, after graduating from college, he left to serve in the Armed Forces. Vyacheslav ends up in a special unit "Rus", which was part of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The young man was distinguished from other guys by his strong fighting character. And his external data fully corresponded to the service in the unit to which he was sent. He spent more than a year in the North Caucasus as a gunner and flamethrower.
Transfer to the reserve
After completing his military service (2004), Vorobyov continues to serve in the OMON. Repeatedly went on business trips to the North Caucasus. Always at the forefront. He was noted by the leadership for the excellent performance of difficult combat missions.
Fifth business trip
It was another business trip. Together with him, another 25 soldiers of the Belgorod OMON went to it (2008). It was designed for 3 months. One day, information was received that a terrorist attack was planned on the territory of Ingushetia. It was supposed to be committed by a sabotage and terrorist group. It was known that it was located in one of the houses of the village of Nazran. The detachment where Vorobyov served was ordered to identify and neutralize the gang group.
In the detachment of the Belgorod OMON there were 11 fighters. The commander of the squad was police lieutenant colonel Andrey Yegorov. The detachment took up its starting positions. Vyacheslav was given the task of being the first to enter the territory of the household. He was supposed to ensure the passage of the assault group.
The battle
But things didn't go as planned. Once on the territory, the fighter saw that they were already waiting there. The militants were in full readiness and well-armed. They were snipers and grenade launchers. Assessing the situation, Vyacheslav realized that if he did not find himself, then the main group of the detachment would come under fire. Slava started shooting, causing fire on himself. This helped the riot police regroup and take advantageous positions to destroy the militants. By that time, Vorobyov was already seriously wounded, and this was known to his friends.
A detachment under the cover of an armored personnel carrier, having broken the gate, decides to evacuate the wounded soldier. But the car was immediately hit by heavy fire from grenade launchers, which did not allow the riot police to move on. Unexpectedly for his colleagues, Vyacheslav himself got in touch (the soldiers had radio communication). Wounded, but alive, he began to specify where his comrades should direct the fire. Thus, he discovered himself again. Seeing that the soldier was still alive, the militants' sniper began to shoot him. Vyacheslav to the last led the adjustment of the battle, ensuring the destruction of the enemy.
When the militants realized that they were in a hopeless situation, they decided to detonate an explosive device. Vyacheslav, who was seriously wounded, was covered with the debris of a collapsed building. After the end of the battle, he remained for another 40 minutes under the rubble of brick and concrete before he was removed from there. The fighter was alive. In serious condition, he was urgently sent to the North Caucasian military hospital, where he received first aid. Then they were transported to Moscow. Thanks to the means of protection that were on Vyacheslav, he miraculously survived. He received a severe concussion, 16 gunshot wounds. Several bullet marks were in the area of the heart. The sniper hit specifically there.
Awards
So ended the fifth business trip of Vorobyov Vyacheslav Mikhailovich. He was treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for a whole year. Experienced doctors of a medical institution fought for his life.
For the feat, Vyacheslav was awarded the country's highest award - the Gold Star of the Hero of the Russian Federation. For his service, he was awarded a large number of departmental, public and other awards.
Personal and social life
Despite his state of health, Vyacheslav Vorobyov leads an active lifestyle. The hero is married. He's a wonderful husband. My wife's name is Tatiana. The couple have a child. Vyacheslav and his family continue to live in Belgorod.
In his hometown, he does a lot of social activities. Vyacheslav Mikhailovich often attends patriotic events, he is invited to Moscow for various ceremonies. In Belgorod there is a prize named after him, which is awarded to students of the Belgorod University. The annual boxing tournament that takes place in this city also bears the name of the hero. As a rule, the awards are presented by Vorobyov himself.
In January 2014, being in a wheelchair, he managed to overcome 200 meters, carrying the torch of the XXII Olympic Winter Games.
The state of health does not allow the hero to get back into line. But Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Vorobyov continues to be on the staff of the OMON. In his personal locker, a uniform and ammunition are still hanging, waiting for their master.
