Forbes magazine annually lists the 100 most influential women in the world. In 2012, unfortunately, there was not a single Russian woman in it, and all the places were taken by representatives of other countries, including the heads of 8 states.
The first three places in the ranking of the most influential women in the world, according to Forbes magazine, are occupied by women politicians. The list is once again topped by Angela Merkel, German Chancellor. Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, came in second as in 2011. The third was Dilma Vana Rousseff, President of Brazil. Thus, the top three in 2012 remained unchanged. In addition to these influential ladies, other politicians were on the list, including the Queen of Great Britain, who took 26th place.
The average age of the women included in the list is 55 years. The oldest was Elizabeth II, the English queen, who has already turned 86 years old. The youngest was the 26-year-old singer Lady Gaga. By the way, it was she who became the most influential representative of show business, taking 14th place in the ranking. This is a great result when you consider that Lady Gaga is for the first time in the list of the most influential women in the world according to Forbes magazine. As for other representatives of show business, among them were Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Angelina Jolie, who took 32, 38, 40 and 66 places, respectively.
The list also includes representatives of 25 large companies. Among business women, the most influential were Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF, and Sherrill Kara Sandberg, Facebook board member and extraordinarily successful entrepreneur. Sheryl Sandberg has been on such lists several times by the Wall Street Journal, Fortune and Time magazines.
The list also includes media representatives. Some of the most influential women in the world, according to Forbes, were the editor-in-chief of the American online magazine The Huffington Post, as well as the editor-in-chief of the popular US newspaper The New York Times, Jill Abramson.
