For ten years in a row, the Russian branch of the men's magazine "GQ" has been awarding Russian show business figures with an award for their contribution to a particular sphere of life. The jubilee award allowed the magazine to award more participants than in previous years.
Every year the journalists of the Russian branch of "GQ" single out several media characters who have managed to bring something new to Russian culture. In 2012, the editors of the magazine proposed as many as fourteen nominations, in each of which five artists were nominated.
In the nomination "Actor of the Year" the jury chose Mikhail Efremov, Alexander Yatsenko, Andrey Smolyakov, Danila Kozlovsky and Alexey Serebryakov. Alexander Maslyakov, Vadim Takmenev, Nikolay Naumov, Fyodor Dobronravov, as well as Vladimir Pozner and Leonid Parfenov were nominated as the most frequently appearing person on TV screens (nomination “Face from TV”). The last two participants joined forces and created an analytical show of a new format, for which they were awarded one nomination for two.
Little-known cultural figures such as Oxxxymiron, Dmitry Bogdan, Maxim Aksenov, Konstantin Buslov and Anton Adasinsky are nominated for the Discovery of the Year prize. In the nomination "Politician of the Year" there is only one "dark horse" - a former member of the "United Russia" party Yevgeny Urlashov, who became the mayor of Yaroslavl. For the prize, he will compete with Mikhail Prokhorov, Alexei Kudrin, Vladimir Putin and Alexei Navalny.
In the "Producer of the Year" nomination - again a couple of participants nominated for a joint project (Konstantin Ernst and Denis Evstigneev). They are opposed by Roman Borisevich, Alexander Rodnyansky, Joseph Backstein and Eduard Boyakov. The highest chances, according to the editorial staff of "GQ", to receive the "Businessman of the Year" prize from Oleg Tinkov, Pavel Durov, Maxim Nogotkov, Ziyavudin Magomedov and Arkady Volozh.
Vyacheslav Zaitsev, Evgeny Nikitin, Dmitry Loginov, Oleg Ovsiev and Leonid Alekseev will compete for the title "Designer of the Year". It is not the first time that Arkady Novikov has appeared in the lists of nominees for the "Restaurateur of the Year" prize. This year he was accompanied by Kirill Gusev, Gia Abramishvili, Ivan Shishkin and Andrey Dellos.
The "Writer of the Year" award will be shared by Alexei Ivanov, Vladimir Mikushevich, Vladimir Kozlov, Sergei Shargunov and Andrei Rubanov. Among the nominees for the “Journalist of the Year” award there is an intangible project “Kermlinrussia, President Roissi”. Whether he will be able to defeat strong rivals in the person of Grigory Revzin, Ilya Azar, Yuri Saprykin and Alexei Venediktov is unknown.
Athletes in the corresponding category represent one sport each: Maxim Maksimov (biathlon), Fedor Emelianenko (boxing), Roman Shirokov (football), Evgeny Malkin (hockey) and Andrey Kirilenko (basketball). This year the leader of the Mumiy Troll group Ilya Lagutenko, Alexander Sklyar, rapper N1NT3NDO, as well as the AuktsYon and Loop of Addiction groups will compete for the Musician of the Year prize.
Among foreign cultural figures (nomination "International Man") the men's magazine singled out Kanye West, Jean Dujardin, Matt Weiner, Raf Simons and Jeremy Lin. In the only nomination where beautiful ladies can take part - "Woman of the Year", the prize will be drawn between Elena Isinbayeva, Lia Akhedzhakova, Khibla Gerzmava, Avdotya Smirnova and Oksana Akinshina. The winners of the award will be announced on September 22, 2012.
