It is natural for a person to plan his future in the expectation of a favorable course of events. However, reality makes its own adjustments. And this happens contrary to desires and aspirations. Nadezhda Yurievna Karataeva was born on January 29, 1924 in the family of a military man. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. Father served in the capital's garrison. Mother worked as a laboratory assistant at a design institute. Nadya grew up as a calm and obedient child. The girl studied well at school. She devoted all her free time to classes in a drama studio. It was here that Karataeva developed a love for the theater.
Nadezhda graduated from school in 1941 and decided to get a specialized education at GITIS. However, the war began, and all plans had to be postponed until better times. The mother and daughter of the Karataevs were evacuated to distant Novosibirsk. Nadia enrolled in nursing courses, after which she asked to go to the front. The ambulance train was assigned to her as the place of service, on which the wounded soldiers were transported to the deep rear. When a turning point occurred in the war, classes at the institute resumed, and Karataeva returned to the student's bench.
Professional activity
In 1946, Karataeva graduated from the institute and left to serve in the Russian Drama Theater in Klaipeda. The certified actress took part in almost all performances. She had to play not only the leading role, but also go on stage in episodes. Nadia gladly fulfilled all instructions and recommendations of the directors. Two years later, Nadezhda returned to Moscow. She was hired by the famous Academic Theater of Satire. The best years of Karataeva's life and work passed within the walls of this Melpomene temple.
The stage career of the actress evolved slowly, without bright ups and annoying scandals. Nadezhda Yurievna took part in almost all repertoire performances. She appeared on the stage in the performances "Twelve Chairs", "Lies for a Narrow Circle", "Captured by Time". It should be noted that the husband of Nadezhda Karataeva, the popular artist Anatoly Papanov, also served in the same theater. The married couple played in the performances "Capercaillie's Nest" and "My Dear Ones". The audience and critics called the family duet very successful.
