Andrey Vasilyevich Filatov makes his worthy contribution to the popularization of this ancient game. Today he is one of the largest entrepreneurs in Russia. Business process management takes a lot of his time and effort. In doing so, he finds opportunities to play his favorite game. And he does it thoroughly, systematically, in a business-like manner.
The future president of the Chess Federation was born on December 18, 1971 in a family of technical intelligentsia. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Krivoy Rog. My father worked as a technologist at a metallurgical enterprise. Mother worked as an economist. When Andrey was five years old, the head of the family was transferred to Dnepropetrovsk. When the age approached, Filatov was enrolled in a children's and youth school with a specialization in chess. After graduating from this educational institution, he fulfilled the norm of a candidate for master of sports in chess.
Professional activity
After graduating from school, Filatov decided to get a specialized education at the Belarusian University of Physical Education. In 1993 he was awarded a diploma of a physical education teacher and a chess coach. For several years he worked as a teacher in a secondary school. Then he went into business. In the late 1990s, Filatov and his partners established the Severstaltrans company. Then he thoroughly took up investment projects. The main asset of the entrepreneur is the Tuloma company. According to rating agencies and the Forbes magazine, Filatov is one of the top 100 largest entrepreneurs in Russia.
For many years, Filatov has been the organizer and sponsor of many cultural and sports events. He initiated the 2012 World Chess Championship in Moscow. The match was held in one of the buildings of the Tretyakov Gallery. The event aroused the interest of chess fans all over the world. The funds allocated by the businessman were used to overhaul and restore the Chess Museum on Gogolevsky Boulevard. In early 2014, Filatov was elected president of the FSHR.
Recognition and privacy
For his great contribution to the development of culture and sports, Filatov was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. The businessman systematically finances various charitable projects. On his initiative, the All-Russian Children and Youth Chess Tournament "Belaya Ladya" is being revived.
The most important thing is known about Filatov's personal life. He is legally married. The husband and wife are raising six children. The four elders are already living independently.
