Pablo Escobar is one of the brightest and most terrible representatives of the criminal world of the 20th century. Because of his insane desire for luxury and for the sake of his own prestige, he destroyed hundreds of innocent lives. During his long criminal "career" he managed to amass such a huge fortune that he was ready to pay off the foreign debt of his native country in exchange for freedom and inviolability.
Biography
The future drug dealer Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria was born in a small town in southern Colombia called Rionegro on December 1, 1949. From an early age, he practically lived on the streets, trading in petty theft and trade in soft drugs. Having organized his own street group, Escobar began to commit daring assaults, robberies and even murders, but all this did not bring significant money, and then he decided to try himself in the drug trade.
A dangerous but profitable business quickly paid off. At first, these were small parties to neighboring countries, but when Escobar discovered the United States, profits began to grow exponentially. The states became a real treasure for Escobar, as the main drug users there were bored rich people who were ready to shell out any money for "entertainment".
At first, Escobar acted only as an intermediary, he bought drugs from manufacturers and sold them abroad. But thanks to the quickly established channels and connections at the border, there was so much money that it was decided to take over the entire drug business from start to finish. From that moment on, Pablo literally walked over the corpses. Anyone who disagreed with him or interfered with his business, he mercilessly killed. So he became the most famous criminal in Colombia by the age of 25.
Having amassed a huge fortune, Escobar went into politics, but the parliament did not let him through due to the charges of drug dealing. After that, another wave of violence swept through the streets of Medellin and throughout Colombia. The drug lord, distraught with impunity, sincerely believed that no one had the right to tell him what to do.
He unleashed a real war with the current government, killing petty officials, judicial officials and journalists who made exposing reports. Along the way, Pablo tried to bribe parliament by offering to pay off Colombia's foreign debt in exchange for the withdrawal of charges and immunity.
All Pablo's efforts did not have a positive effect, and at the end of 1989, Escobar passed the point of no return when members of his cartel blew up a passenger plane, where there were more than 100 people. After that, Escobar was declared a terrorist, and the power structures of Colombia, with the support of the United States, began to act more decisively - they destroyed laboratories and detained everyone who was in any way connected with the cartel.
By the end of the 90s, a new drug cartel, Cali, was gaining momentum in Colombia, which was a direct competitor to Escobar. Realizing that the famous drug dealer was not long left, the bosses of "Kali" declared war on a competitor. The popular movement "Los Pepes" appeared, which was sponsored by the cartel. Colombia's militant patriots have also declared war on the weakening Escobar. He spent the last years of his life on the run, trying to find allies and ways to deal with enemies.
Death
Pablo Escobar was killed in the winter of 1993, December 2. The last days of his life Escobar tried to get in touch with his loved ones so that he was not "spotted" by enemies. However, he made the mistake of hanging on the line for over 5 minutes while talking to his son. The police immediately found the place from where the call was made and went there.
The security forces surrounded the house in which Escobar was located. He tried to escape across the rooftops, but they were waiting for him there too. According to the official version, the sniper fired two shots from a distance and then finished off Escobar with a pistol shot to the head. But there is also another, in which Escobar allegedly made the last shot from his pistol so as not to surrender alive.
Personal life
In the spring of 1976, Escobar married an underage childhood friend, a girl named Maria, who was already pregnant with him. Soon the drug lord had a child - the son of Juan Pablo, and in 1979 - the daughter of Manuela. Like many of the most violent criminals in history, Escobar was extremely sentimental about his family.
