One of the most prestigious international film festivals is held annually in the French resort town of Cannes, located on the Mediterranean coast. It was first held in 1946 and since then every year at the end of May it has been gathering the world's elite of cinema - actors, directors, critics, press and film critics - for its screenings. Participation in the competitive program of this festival is already prestigious and honorable in itself.
Instructions
Step 1
The 65th Cannes Festival in 2012 will take place from 16 to 27 May and its program has already been determined. In it you can see the most famous and high-profile names of recent years. The competition program will open with Wes Andersen's film "The Kingdom of the Full Moon", and at the closing will show the last film of the recently deceased Claude Miller "Teresa Dyskeru", based on the book of the same name by François Mauriac.
Step 2
The competition program will show films of four more laureates of the Palme d'Or of the past years at the Cannes Film Festival. Film director Cristjan Muncu, who became a representative of the “new Romanian wave”, who shot the film “Four months, three weeks, two days”, which took place in Cannes, this time brought a new film “On the other side of the hills”. Austrian director Michael Haneke ("White Ribbon") will show the audience his new film "Love", shot by him in the traditional and recognizable harsh manner and tells the story of an elderly spouse, one of whom was struck by a stroke.
Step 3
Another laureate of past years - an Iranian who became a classic during his lifetime and works in exile - Abbas Kiarostami ("Taste of Cherry"), transferred the action of his new film "Like a Lover" to Japan. The viewer will see a picture of a sudden romance between a young student and an elderly scientist. Ken Loach, a representative of the British realistic school (The Wind That Shakes the Heather), will show the audience his twenty-seventh film, The Share of Angels.
Step 4
Russia at the film festival will be represented by a new film directed by Sergei Loznitsa "In the Fog". Jacques Odiar, David Cronenberg, Bernardo Bertolucci, Dario Argento, Takashi Miike and other masters of cinema and promising debutants will also present their works to the jury and the audience, whose films will be shown as part of the Unspeakable Look festival competition program. The jury for this year's festival will be chaired by Palme d'Or winner Nanni Moretti.
