The 65th Cannes Film Festival 2012 will take place, as always, in France on the Côte d'Azur from May 16 to 27. It is one of the most prestigious and oldest events of its kind: the first ceremony took place in 1946.

Step 1
The opening film of the Cannes Film Festival will be Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson, USA. The event will be closed by the film "Teresa Desqueiro", France, by the recently deceased Claude Miller.
Step 2
The jury for the main competition this time included: Andrea Arnold, scriptwriter and director, UK; Khiam Abbas, director and actress, Palestine; Diane Kruger, actress, Germany; Emmanuelle Devos, actress, France; Evan McGregor, actor, UK; Raul Peck, screenwriter, director and producer, Haiti; Alexander Payne, screenwriter, producer and director, USA; and also, the famous French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier. The jury will be chaired by an Italian actor, director and producer - Nanni Moretti.
Step 3
At the 65th Cannes Film Festival, the honorary jury will have to choose among twenty-two tapes of the main competition. The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival on May 27. According to the already established tradition, the best film or several films at once, such as in 1997, will be awarded the Palme d'Or prize. There are other awards: "Jury Prize", "Grand Prix", "Golden Camera", awards for the best screenwriter, director, actor and actress.
Step 4
The competition program of the 65th Cannes Film Festival, as always, will include films by directors from different countries of the world: France, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Belgium, South Korea, Denmark, Great Britain, etc. Russia will be represented by the co-production film "In the Fog", directed by Sergei Loznitsa (Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Germany, the Netherlands), 2012, 127 minutes.
Step 5
