When little Valera was born in June 1941, his parents were ordinary peasants, they worked in the fields, and the boy was often left alone at home at the age of two. To prevent the son from running away, the mother had to tie him up. And Valery Sergeevich remembered these terrible days for a child and carried them with him throughout his life.
At the age of 7, a terrible misfortune happened to him - he became a cripple. The leg injury was misdiagnosed, treatment was performed incorrectly, which provoked the development of bone tuberculosis. Doctors predicted the boy's disability for life, but fate decreed otherwise. In 1964, Valery first appeared on the theater stage, and in 1965 he starred in his first film.

After graduating from the Bystro-Istok school of the Altai Territory, Valery limped to Moscow. The craving for acting led him to the faculty of operetta of the legendary GITIS, where he was accepted after the very first audition.
