The paintings of this artist are sold at auctions for unthinkable money, galleries stand in line and fight for the right to exhibit his canvases in their halls. He is a recognized genius all over the world. Meanwhile, about his most famous painting, every second person who saw it remarked with bewilderment and a sarcastic grin: "I am an artist too!" The painting is called "Black Square", its author is Kazimir Malevich. So what's the deal?
On this occasion, many scientific papers have been written, a lot of dissertations have been defended on this material, thick books have been published, but all this information is designed for a rather narrow circle of those who are dedicated and interested. And the fact that everyone without exception, including skeptics, every day sees around them the products of this artist's activity, uses them - this is a secret for the overwhelming majority.
Before Malevich, there was another pictorial language in painting. Color has always been tied to shape. Using a color palette, the artist conveyed thought, emotions, mood through the chosen plot.
The idea that color has an independent content, an energetic effect on the mental, physical, and emotional state of a person came to Malevich as an inspiration when he painted the scenery for the play. The artist felt the self-sufficiency of the black square depicted at the back of the stage.
This was the beginning of a new era in painting. Malevich created a new artistic alphabet, which had a wide range of applications - medical, energetic, psychological. He studied the influence of color forms (black square, red cross, white circle) on a person's condition, on his health, psyche, he proposed a new language for the new time.
Malevich found that white, for example, intensifies pain and its use in hospitals is dangerous for patients, red acts as an aphrodisiac, green calms, and orange sharpens attention. Bright jackets for road workers are an invention of Malevich.
The use of color in the interior, depending on the impact on the human psyche - now it goes without saying and it seems that it has always been. In fact, this is a discovery, the result of painstaking work and deep research of the great artist.
What was once recognized as outstanding and remains so in the opinion of experts deserves a closer and benevolent look. And condescending irony in relation to real discoveries is the result of superficial judgment. One has only to be more attentive and more curious, and the interested gaze will discover amazing truths.
