Actors leave their mark on the history of mankind under a false name. Under the name of the character whose image had to be presented on stage or on the screen. Jerzy Binczycki remained in the memory of the Polish and Soviet spectators as a bearded witch doctor.
Starting conditions
More often than not, young people care little about the teachings of old people. They themselves invent goals for themselves in life and strive towards them. But only a very few reach the desired milestone. Jerzy Binczycki did not want to associate his fate with theater or cinema. Yes, he loved to watch movies in the cinema, and puppet shows in the town square. He liked being a spectator. The desire to go on stage myself arose already in adolescence. The boy fell in love with the girl next door. Once she told him that she loves to watch performances in the city theater.
The future actor and director was born on September 6, 1937 in the family of a stove-maker and a seamstress. Parents lived in the famous city of Krakow. My father was engaged in the installation of heating systems in houses. Mother carried out orders for sewing women's clothing. The child grew up and was brought up on the street. During the difficult times after the war, Jerzy dreamed of becoming a salesman in a shop where cakes were sold. Or a policeman who was scaring the boys running along the tram tracks. Binchitsky studied well at school. In high school, he began attending a theater studio in order to attract the attention of classmates by playing on stage.
On the stage
After graduating from school, Jerzy decided to get a specialized education at the local Academy of Theater Arts named after Ludwig Solsky. It was not so easy to get into this educational institution. But Pan Binchitsky passed all the tests perfectly. He began to appear on stage as a student. The first work as a certified actor was noted by critics and audiences. Jerzy made his debut in the play People of the Kingdom. In 1965, the already established actor went to work at the Old Krakow Theater. And he served here for many years. In 1998 he was appointed director.
In the cinema, the actor's career was developing quite satisfactorily. In 1975, Binchitsky played one of the main roles in the film "Nights and Days". For this he was awarded three prestigious awards in different nominations. Including the State Prize of the Polish People's Republic. The actor achieved the maximum success and recognition after the release of the cult film "Witch Doctor". The love and adoration of the audience is difficult to convey in words. Critics considered that it was in this picture that Binchitsky reached the maximum height in his work.
Recognition and privacy
For many years of work and merits in cultural activities, the actor was awarded the orders "Revival of Poland" and "Golden Cross of Merit".
Binchitsky did not give out information about his personal life. He was once married. The husband and wife parted because the children were not born in the marriage. The actor died suddenly of a heart attack in October 1998.
