Sasha Verny is a famous French cameraman. He directed the films Hiroshima, My Love and Last Year in Marienbad. He also worked on the painting "Day Beauty".
Biography
Sasha Verny was born on August 10, 1919 in Bois-le-Roy in France. He died in Paris on May 15, 2001. The operator was 81 years old. His family is Jewish immigrants who fled Russia. Verny was educated at the Paris Film School. He made documentaries in Africa. He has more than 70 full-length and television films on his account. He collaborated with Alain René and Peter John Greenaway. In 1938, Sasha married model and art critic Dina Aybinder. After 2 years, they dispersed during the German occupation. Verney has been nominated twice for Cesar. He is a three-time winner of the Catalan IFF Sitges Prize.
