Maria Makarova is a Russian singer, poet and composer. She created a musical rock group "Masha and the Bears", became its vocalist. She works as a performer in the genres of psychedelic, alternative, indie and folk rock, grunge.

The beginning of the path to the musical Olympus
The biography of the future performer began in 1977. The girl was born in Krasnodar on September 6. The child grew up in a large family with twin brothers Mikhail and Daniel.
Mom worked as a teacher of a foreign language. There has always been an atmosphere of creativity at home. Dad worked as a journalist, mother taught languages and wrote poetry.
The daughter chose her father's profession. Masha decided to get her education at the Faculty of Journalism. She entered the Kuban State University. Makarova started working at the first radio station in Krasnodar "Fermata" as a DJ and presenter.
During the broadcasts, the creative abilities of the future star were manifested. She herself worked out the musical inserts, created the lyrics. Makarova hosted programs dedicated to rock music.
The active student was happy to organize events, studied music, wrote lyrics for songs. Gradually Makarova became famous. However, she was not inspired by the fame of being a DJ only.
Confession
Maria became a member of local music groups "Drynk" and "Makar Dubai". The bands were quite famous in the singer's hometown. In 1996, Oleg Nesterov came on tour with the Megapolis collective. During one of the concerts, Masha decided to give him her works.
The leader of the popular group appreciated the music. Pretty soon, the TV presenter and musician became the producer of an aspiring artist. In 1997 a contract was signed, a new group was founded. The team "Masha and the Bears" began its work. Then the musicians moved to the capital to work on their debut album.
It was decided to shoot the clips for the first compositions "Without You" and "Lyubochka" in India. The director was Mikhail Khleborodov. The hit "Lyubochka" appeared by accident. Masha wrote almost all the lyrics herself. However, she decided to experiment, putting slightly modified words of Agnia Barto to the music. As a result, the song became the highlight of the disc.
The work on the first collection was carried out by the whole team, including Nesterov and German director Brigitte Underhusen. The premiere of "Lyubochka" took place in 1998 on the air of "Radio Maximum". The success was phenomenal. According to the plot of the clip, which was then filmed, Masha appeared in front of the audience with a shaved head. The other members of the group were in the same images. The vocalist let her hair downstream of the Ganges as a sign of karma purification.
After the release of the disc "Solntseklesh" the group received the title "Breakthrough of the Year 1998". In addition to the hit, the album was supplemented by psychedelic rock compositions that did not in any way resemble Lyubochka in style.
New plans
The team ceased to exist at the peak of popularity in 2000. Before the annual festival "Maksidrom" Makarova announced the disbandment of the collective and refusal to perform. Before leaving the stage, the musicians presented a new single "Earth".
Masha was unable to continue her work in the capital's show business. She refused to be interviewed, did not participate in concerts. For four years, Makarova practically did not leave the house. She returned to Krasnodar and again left for Moscow.
By the end of 2004, the Masha and Bears group returned. The performances continued. In 2008 the singer took part in the author's project of Sergei Minko and Viktor Burko "Ya Maha" as a soloist. However, outside the group, the idea was not successful. In 2008, together with rapper Noize Mc Makarova, she recorded the hip-hop track "Life Without Drugs".
The group "Masha and Bears" presented a new collection to the fans in 2012. Separately from each other, as conceived by the creators, parts of the album entitled "The End" were released throughout the year. The significant dates became the reason. The first presentation was the winter solstice, December 21st. The new part was released on the day of the spring solstice. Then the songs "For you" and "Believe me" were recorded with the group "Bravo".
A family
The talented musician's personal life is all right. For the first time, Maria married the artist Andrei Repeshko in Krasnodar. In 2005, two children appeared in their family, the twins Mira and Rosa. The girls received unusual names from the title of Andreev's philosophical book "The Rose of the World". The parents of the babies broke up.
Makarova's son Damir was born in 2012. After baptism, the boy's name was changed to Nikolai. Masha talks very reluctantly and little about her new chosen one, who became a father for the boy. She told the press only his name, Alexander. A man prefers life away from the noise of cities, in silence. Therefore, he rarely communicates with the child.
Makarova devotes all her time to her offspring. Children go in for sports and music. Mom tries to keep all areas of the life of her daughters and son under control. She is sure that the Internet poses a particular danger to them. At the same time, new pictures and videos with the participation of Kolya, Mira and Rosa often appear on Masha's Instagram page.
Makarova gives concerts, records new songs. She shared her plans for the future on the air of the program "Hello, Andrey" in 2018, dedicated to the stars of the nineties. The singer and composer does not plan to end her creative life.
