Childhood

The future writer was born in 1900. This talented man spent his childhood in the French city of Lyon.

Exupery's father died when the boy was only 4 years old, his upbringing fell on the shoulders of his mother, who, in addition to Antoine, had 4 more children. But this did not become a hindrance. Thanks to his mother, he graduated from a Jesuit school and entered a private boarding school.

In 1912, Exupery visited the sky for the first time, even despite the prohibitions of his mother, the pilot Gabriel Wroblewski did it - showed the boy the sky and made him fall in love with him. And in 1917, Antoine became a student at the School of the Arts in Paris.

The first love

At the age of 18, the young man met a girl who left pain in his heart for many years. Her name was Louise. The beauty refused Exupery many times. Even when he became a famous writer, she did not pay attention to him. Women of that time were crazy about the charming French pilot, but after this incident, the young man no longer wanted to start romances.

Heaven and Literature

A turning point in the life of Exupery was the conscription into the army in 1921. After a while, he managed to pass the exam for a civil aviation pilot. In 1923, his first plane crash happened, as a result of which he received a head injury. Antoine moved to Paris, where he became seriously interested in literature. Unsuccessful at first, but that did not stop him. This man knew how to overcome difficulties.

Dream work

Since at first the young man did not work out with literature, and he decided to try himself in the field of trade. First they were cars, then books.

In 1925, his sister brought the young man to a literary salon, where Exupery met critics and editors. They were the ones who were able to publish Antoine's story "The Pilot" in the Serebryany Ship magazine. But Exupery understood that you couldn't make a living from that. And only in 1926 he found a job to his liking, the pilot was able to get a job at Aeropostal.

At first he held the position of a mechanic, and after a while he was able to become a pilot of a mail plane. It was then that flights to Africa began, to the Sahara Desert, which the writer mentioned in his books. And if Exupery simply took the mail … This man brought pilots out of captivity, tamed the fox, and resolved conflicts between tribes.

Work in the newspaper

But in 1931, the company, which became his own, finally went bankrupt, and Antoine lost his job. After that, he works on postal lines, crashes twice. At the age of 33 he got a job in the newspaper "Paris-Soir", travels, including in the USSR. Until the Second World War, Exupery worked as a correspondent.

A family

Consuelo Carrilo became the second love of his life as a pilot and writer. Contemporaries characterized her as capricious, arrogant and proud, with a strange (in their understanding) appearance, but intelligent and able to perfectly present herself as a woman. Exupery loved her infinitely, and they even got married. A few months later, the wife began to "roll up" scandals, tell stories about life with her husband. Antoine was a kind man and was sympathetic to Consuelo's mistakes, he found in her a muse, a companion and a beautiful woman.

In 1941, Exupery went to war, but for health reasons he was forced to return to the United States. There were stories "The Military Pilot" (insanely popular in the States, but banned in France) and, perhaps, the legendary "Little Prince". July 31, 1944, hitting the front again, the pilot went missing. Only in 2004, the remains of his plane were found in the Mediterranean Sea.
