Many ancient sanctuaries are found in Russia. However, finding a way to places associated with pagan sacrifices is not easy even for search expeditions. Legends and local traditions keep information about the hidden corners. There is a similar legend about a mysterious tract in the Sergiev-Posad region.
Located to the northeast of the capital, the village where Sergius of Radonezh was born and raised is surrounded by forests on all sides.
Secret place
Before the advent of Christianity in Russia they worshiped their gods. In the forest thicket, not far from the White Gods tract, one of the ancient temples is hidden. He is often compared to Stonehenge. The stones are folded in the form of a hemisphere. The height of the structure is 3 m, the diameter is about 6.
Disputes about the purpose of this design do not subside. Usually, such places of a ritual nature were dedicated to the main Slavic deity. According to local legends, sacrifices were made here.
Few people know the exact coordinates of the mysterious place. However, there are many such sanctuaries here. It is known that the White Gods are located at a distance of about a kilometer from the village, next to the Mogiltsy tract.
The temple got its name in honor of Belobog, one of the supreme Slavic celestials. Presumably, there are two more temples nearby, dedicated to other main deities of the Slavic pantheon.
So far, they have practically not been investigated, since there are practically no sources that contain the necessary information. And almost no time was devoted to the study of Slavic mythology.
Sanctuary of the Slavic gods
Belobog patronized well-being. According to popular beliefs, he showed the way to lost travelers and helped the peasants in agriculture. The deity was represented in the form of a long-bearded old man.
The search for the sanctuary has now resumed. There are suggestions that it is hidden near the Radonezh spring. According to some sources, the temple of the Transfiguration of the Lord can serve as a landmark.
The version is confirmed by a spring with a small hill, where a cross was erected. Legends say that it was erected instead of the destroyed temple. In those days, they tried to build churches in places with a special energy. She promoted the attitude towards spiritual enlightenment and tuned in to prayers.
The search continues
However, it is also possible that the sanctuary is hidden in the forest thicket. Locals say that some of them came to this place by accident.
For the construction of settlements, the Slavs were looking for places that satisfy a considerable number of conditions. Usually villages were built next to the bends of the river, where the groundwater is close. There are traces of settlements on geological faults.
Images taken from space show the presence of ring structures. This is also confirmed by the analysis of old settlements. In such places, mystical phenomena are often observed.
However, it was not possible to find evidence of the existence of the mysterious place to this day. It seems to be reliably hidden from people. Researchers do not interrupt their search.
