There are many blind spots in the history of mankind that have yet to be unraveled in the future. One of these mysteries was and remains the semi-mythical Atlantis.
They have been trying to find Atlantis since ancient times. Some seekers believe that she sank somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. Others are trying to prove that it is still on the surface and is part of some continent. Still others stubbornly defend their opinion that Atlantis is just fiction and nothing more. That there is not an ounce of truth in the story about her and that the information about her cannot be taken seriously. And it all started with one famous ancient Greek writer, philosopher, scientist and just an intelligent person.
Aristocles - "Broad-shouldered"
Under the name Aristocles, there is a better known nickname Plato, or from ancient Greek - broad-shouldered. A disciple of Socrates, the founder of the theory of the supremacy of ideas over matter, a supporter of utopian totalitarianism in the organization of an ideal state, this man is also known for his description of Atlandita. In his works, one can find an indication that the Atlantean island was located west of the Pillars of Hercules, near the Atlanta mountains.
The island was inhabited by highly developed people. They possessed the sciences, the arts, and were in many ways ahead of their time. But for some unknown reason, possibly as a result of man-made activity, the island was buried under water after a strong earthquake. Plato indicates the time is about nine thousand years ago. If you take into account the time of the scientist himself, you need to add another 500 years, getting 9500 BC.

Interestingly, the history of Atlantis is not limited to Plato alone. According to Herodotus, he collected the stories of an African tribe who lived near the Atlanta mountains. They reported that the Atlanteans did not have proper names, they constantly fought with someone and were eventually destroyed by troglodyte enemies.
The next fact (or fiction, which is possible) is found in Strabo's Geography. In it, a certain Elian in the II century AD reports that the kings of the Atlanteans dressed in the skins of sea monsters, and the queens wore crowns from the skins of these animals.
In the Middle Ages, an interesting version emerged, drawn from the Chronicles of Peru by Pedro Cieza de Leon. According to one Native American story, white people were known in Peru long before the Spaniards. It is possible that these were the very Atlanteans.
Currently, the search for Atlantis continues with varying success. All new hypotheses and versions appear and disappear. And it is possible that with advances in the latest technology, such a task will soon be finally solved.
