The world famous ensemble Ricchi e Poveri was conceived as the Italian counterpart of the Swedish ABBA quartet. One pair of participants performed in luxurious suits, the other in modest ones, as if saying that you can become spiritually rich without money. Now the Ricchi e Poveri group has become a duo of Angelo Sotju and Angela Brambati.
Despite the fact that the relationship between Angela and Angelo in their youth ended in parting, this did not affect the work of the group. Romantic feelings gave way to friendly ones.
The path to recognition
The biography of the future star began in 1947. The girl was born in Genoa on October 20. The baby was fond of music from an early age. She was a soloist in amateur ensembles, performed in clubs. The singer's family did not approve of such a career at all: her mother recommended her daughter to find more serious occupation.
Angela has already decided for herself that she will become famous. The professional first team was the group I Preistorici. In the mid-60s, the girl, together with Franco Gatti, Angelo Sotju and Marina Okkiena, created the Fama Medium ensemble. The guys performed Italian hits to the accompaniment of guitars. The Ricchi e Poveri version was invented by the producer of the team Franco Califano.
He explained that the four are not rich financially, but they are gifted with talent. Then the idea of new images appeared.
Success
In 1968 the team participated in the Cantagiro festival. In 1970 the band sang Nicolo Di Bari's creation La prima cosa bella in San Remo. During the same period, they appeared on the Festivalbar.
The composition Che sarà brought the quartet to second place in San Remo in 1971. The song became the standard of Italian classics. At the same time, the quartet starred in the musical comedy Un trapezio per Lisistrata.
In 1980, the band presented the album La stagione dell'amore. In 1981, the song Sarà perché ti amo remained at the top of the national charts for 10 weeks.
The victory in San Remo was brought in 1985 by the composition Se m'innamoro. The album Pubblicità was released in 1987. After it, remakes appeared in the collections, but there were few new compositions.
Career and family
Since 1991 the quartet has become a trio. In 1991 the band hosted the popular TV program Domenica in. At the same time, the musicians starred in a successful parody of the TV series "Mysterious Woman". In 1998, the CD Parla col cuore was released with the best songs of the team. The group toured a lot, released new discs.
Franco Gatti left the squad in 2016. The trio was reduced to a duo. At the beginning of 2020, all participants gathered again to appear in San Remo as guests of honor. They sang the most famous songs, including Mamma Maria. Due to COVID-19, the presentation of the ReuniON collection, previously scheduled for March 27, 2020, had to be postponed.
Angela's personal life also took shape. Marcello Brocelera became her husband. They had a child, a son, Luke. He became a cook, works at his mother's restaurant.
Angela herself does not stop being creative. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding.
